During the Dungeon and Fighter Universe Festival in South Korea, Neople has announced a new Arc System Works-developed fighting game called Dungeon and Fighter Duel / Dungeon Fighter Duel / DNF Duel.

DNF Duel is a new spin-off title in the Dungeon Fighter Online world which looks to take the beat 'em up-style MMORPG and translate the action into a more traditional 2D fighting game.

Dungeon Fighter Online launched back in 2005 and has since become one of the most popular video games in the world garnering over 700 million lifetime players and grossed over $15 billion as of May 2020.

Instead of using individual characters, DNF Duel appears to use fighters based on the 16 main classes and 60 Advancements found in the MMO with five showing up in the trailer.

The characters so far appear to be using the Advancement version of classes with the Berserker, Ranger, Grappler, Striker and Inquisitor all shown off with gameplay here.

There's little to go on as far as gameplay mechanics specifically, but there appears to be some sort of special cancel or something similar where characters can be seen flashing at various points before performing a move.

Eighting, the former developers of Bloody Roar and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, will also be working to help create the game though the scope of their involvement is still not known.

The project is seemingly being helmed by Ryosuke Kodani in the director's chair, who previously worked as a lead planner in Dragon Ball FighterZ, was the assistant director for River City Girls and worked with Arcana Heart 3 prior.
