64bit vista and ffxi

I just recently torrented all the FFXI expansions and PoL and used the all ffxi patch torrent in the sticky and whenever I try to run POL it doesn't even try to run it just says "PoL is closing down because windows vista sucks shit"

i recall vista and ffxi being retarded together but I can't remember the solution. i tried running as windows xp compability mode.

You need a Vista/7 compatible version of POL, you can get it here:

also, after you get the right version, you need to make sure you are go into the properties and tell it to "Run as administrator"

1. If you're using the original POL discs, then yes, you need the special POL installer from the FFXI website. I believe installers from the Ultimate edition and onwards remove this requirement because it deals with 64-bit Vista properly.
2. As Snprphnx said, you need to run as Administrator.
3. You need to either disable or work around UAC, or else you will be crashing.
