Not announced for western release yet !
Well since you posted it, and my thread will probably die or get merged, I want MY PS4 VERSION
It's about damn time
Now we just need X/X-2 HD PC to be confirmed and released.
SE hasnt confirmed a western release yet, but im sure its only a matter of time.
Forever beaten by a few seconds.
Oh they're actually putting some work into this, nice.
It's technically a remaster ish. Much like every other early FF game they got rid of the assets and FFIX itself was one of the cleanest FF builds they did (no excess assets, very little if at all any beta elements left overs and so on) so I wouldn't be surprised if this was in the pipeline for a fair bit. No doubt they're going to add QoL stuff to make certain side quests more apparent and PROBABLY changing the Ragnarok II (I think it was been awhile) "quest"..either way, long as hot & cold is the same and Ozma isn't turned into a Hyper Boss, I'm content.
Any information about what assets they're using for this port? I thought everything from the Playstation era was lost.
The thing that suffered most porting FF7 and FF8 to PC was sound quality. Mr. Uematsu's raw, hard-coded musicks sounded great coming out of the SCPH-1001's chip, but terrible out of any soundblaster card/MIDI emulator on PC.
90% of that trailer was CGI footage, and what we did see of the actual in-game engine showed minimal improvement over emulating. However, while it took ePSXe bumping native res to 1080p for the character's faces to have discernible features (instead of a blurry mess of pixels), it's nice to see the extra attention they're putting into the sharpness of the models.
If they add 16:9 aspect ratio & (at least) 1080p res support on top of the overhauled/legible UI font, they eliminate any lag or framerate issues, and the sound quality doesn't take a swan dive, this may become the definitive version of the game.
Sigh. Shut up and take my money.
Edit:
That's Excalibur II.
Also, one of this title's major missteps was its absolute lack of endgame.
Balancing for the devs was hard, because on one end of the spectrum players trying to nab that Excalibur II would enter Memoria around Lv30, but on the other end players enjoying their conventional romp-and-grind may show up around Lv50~60. Because of this, players could roll Hades, Quale, Necron, Ozma, etc by around Lv60, leaving absolutely nothing left for a completionist to do aside from grind to Lv99.
This game really needs superbosses; the "hardest" enemy, Ozma, was more of a nuisance than a challenge.
They did give fun little side-challenges along the way (e.g. eating a Garuda for White Wind on disc 1 above Gizamaluke's Grotto; Tantarian; etc.), but nothing resembling the HP:1,000,000+ marathon fights like Omega in FF8 that tested one's ability to DoT like a motherfucker.

...it looks like there will be an instant easy-mode "Booster" a'la FF8's release on Steam where they gave players a shitload of spells to junction at the game's offset. Here it looks like players can jump instantly to Lv99, have instant 9,999,999 Gil, and even raise the max number of Ability Crystals to 99, which is not possible even if naturally Lv99.
That would immediately knock off a few of the usual JRPG achievements.
Finally a rerelease of the best final fantasy title.
PS4 RELEASE FUCKING WHEN.
Day one
I'd totally buy a PS4 release, especially if it was a good remaster.
Can't find anything about the assets, but the features are the same as FF7.
