Revealed as part of the PlayStation Showcase digital livestream, hosted by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Square Enix Inc., announced FOAMSTARS, a new four-on-four online shooter for PlayStation®5 (PS5™) and PlayStation®4 (PS4™). The announcement trailer showcases a variety of the title’s colorful characters engaging in foam-to-foam combat in battle arenas.

In this game, foam is the ultimate resource. It can be used in multiple ways: To create slippery surfaces that players can use to surf around the arena at high speed; to build terrain, helping players defend from enemy attacks or creating high vantage points to take out opponents; and finally, to foam up the opposition and win the match.

The FOAMSTARS development team will share more details about the game in the near future, so please stay tuned.

I was talking to my brother about this and the only topic I could think of was how there are basically 0 good (let alone living) "SE Live service" titles going on and their track record with anything not-FF lately hasn't been wonderful. Plus this feels like a chasing a trend that doesnt exist years after its relevant.

Dont get me wrong, I know Splatoon has its loyal fans... but I can't fathom there being a market for this. If this isn't immediately exposed to be an extremely half-assed MTX ridden Live service disaster that immediately flops and is canceled in a year or so I'll be shocked.

Was six fulltime staff. Then Matsui stepped down as Producer for Fujito to take over, and immediately he announced dropping the full time staff to presumably part time (letting said staff learn dev work on non-ancient projects), basically putting the game into maintenance mode following this month.
