Torture for one year or death?

I had an interesting debate that wasn't interesting at all. It was around whether you would accept being tortured for one year, after which you are free, or choose to die instead. Now, you actually know the torture will end, so in that sense that's good, but one year is a hell of a long time. Anyway, poll time!

The torture only includes two things: waterboarding and sleep deprivation. Obviously, the sleep deprivation will happen intermitently, waterboarding may happen one to ten times a day.

By intermitently i mean that you can be kept awake for up to a week, but have it stop for one to three weeks, after which it will probably be continued.

A year of that is a life sentence really, you're going to come out all kinds of fucked up and different so death is the only option imo.

I am not certain myself. A year of that shit is indeed hell, but you don't come back from death. Your life may go on after the torture, which gives you hope, and some people have had to go through years of torture. It honestly seems like a tough choice to me.

It all depends tho man, like, am I being tortured for a cause I believe in? Or is just arbitrary sickfuckedness?

it depends on what's left to live for. do you have a great life to go back to, or a wife that's left you and kids who were killed in a car bombing? would you be alone?

I'd like to say I'd be tortured for a year I just don't know how long I'd be asking for death. Assuming there is no "opt-out" no matter how much I beg and I REALLY believe in the cause I'd say torture.

Of course if I felt dying for the cause would yield better results I'd say death.
