Attendees get Aegislash (lvl50) for Pokemon X/Y

Get an awesome Aegislash at the 2014 Pokémon World Championships via local wireless distribution! The Lv. 50 Aegislash is well-built for Double Battles, especially because it can use Wide Guard. This move protects Aegislash and any allies in play from attacks that target multiple Pokémon per turn. It’s really difficult for Aegislash to learn this move through normal gameplay—it's only available as an Egg Move, and multiple steps are required!

Remember to bring your system in the Nintendo 3DS family and your copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y when you come to the World Championships. Look for instructions posted at the event. The Aegislash distribution will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss it!

I find it genuinely ... weird? depressing? that they need headphones to focus/concentrate to pick a pool of 4 moves/swap the appropiate monster to counter whatever for a turn based game. It's not really that hard once you have your strategy down. Or is there some sort of rule from Nintendo given how they love their children to disallow anyone above 12 to join?

edit: just read the rules, so basically I'm looking for official pics of the masters division haha (born 1998 or earlier)
edit2: found 2 pics from last year where the .... "older" guys have headphones. No wayyyy lol, I refuse to believe it's that complex

Not only that, I notice it's just kids playing. The community is massive and is definitely not populated by just kids. Where are them teens/adults?!
(unless some are too pansy to go on stage because "it's pokemon" lol)

I still remember back in G/S/C era my Umbreon kicking everyone's dicks at some Official Pokemon event just because no one had an appropiate counter (or knew the meta-game). I was 15! Rarely did I need to swap out too lol. Once I was fully cursed it was double-edging 1-shotting everything to the ground.

I mean, if I turned up to a Chess tournament with headphones, won't people just laugh?! Though I suppose some use it as a form of meditation/concentration (i.e. F1 drivers, footballers, that turn up pre-event with headphones) but won't necessarily use it during the game (not seen it myself).

I understand the use of them elsewhere as I've read. Diago from Evo needs to listen out for stuff. CoD/Battlefield (Etc...) needs to hear where their enemy is coming from and communicate. WoW pvp needs to communicate. F1 drivers communicate back to base! lol

If someone can enlighten me the purpose of headphones in a pokemon game that'd be nice, I'm just massively bemused

As soon as I saw that it was pretty much gg. Especially since that Earthquake was about 55% or so. That turn 1 discharge was dumb though. You should expect a switch out.
