    Commentary
    • Chocobo Eater switches to Weak state at 70% HP and Very Weak state at 40% HP.

Chocobo Eater's damage output is largely magical, and the majority of its physical damage ignores defense entirely. Bring a Shellga but don't bother with Protectga. You may want to bring a Power Break or Breakdown, but if your team is entirely backrow, you probably won't need it; the physical attacks are not ranged.

10% chance to activate in response to any attack: Protect (WHT: grant Protect to self)

    Commentary
    • Guardian Beast switches to Weak state at 70% HP. Its first turn after entering Weak Phase will be Tail Slap, and its second will be Damocles Photon. Guardian Beast switches to Very Weak state at 40% HP. Its first turn after entering Very Weak state will be Damocles Photon.

Be wary of Mana Breath; if you bring insufficient magical mitigation it WILL one-shot you. It'll deal 9999 damage with no mitigation up. Also note that, on average, you'll get one counter per 5 abilities directed against the Guard Beast, including Dispel itself. Yes, it can counter your Dispel by re-applying whichever buff you just removed. Anyway, its magical bite is much worse (and much more common) than its physical, so err on that side for mitigation if you have limited resources to bring. It's weak to more than half of the possible elements in the game, so you should have plenty of options for damage. 4 star elemental summons, Saint's Cross, Snowstorm Strike, Chain Blizzaga, and Meltdown will demolish it.

Event Quest Notes: Bring Full Break and Magic Breakdown on Wakka. If you've got Paine leveled, Saint's Cross plus Banishing Strike would be excellent in this fight. Either Lulu or Braska can carry Chain Blizzaga and Meltdown, and Braska can carry Ixion/Syldra/Leviathan/Alexander/Ifrit/Shiva/Ramuh, all of which will deal great damage even without a Faith effect. Remember that Rikku can bring the Bard Shellga or Protectga to help with the mitigation load, as well as Thief's Revenge for damage. If you have either Rikku's or Tidus's BSB, they'll demolish Guardian Beast's HP (though you won't get any benefit out of Rikku's Imperil Water). Lulu's SSB and Braska's SSB also will deal massive damage.

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

Well, other than Lulu's SSB weapon only weapons I have are Celebration Dagger and Royal Scepter's we got. And only armors are either combined shit or the Auroch's suit that is just for defense.

EDIT: Should I swap Yuna's RM to Knight's Charge or stay with Devout? She only has a shared heal on.

Good advice, the following is my random point of view on it.

I dont like to keep around "DEF only" benefit armor anymore unless it has a shared SB I could find useful one day... I'm one of those lucky few who have 4 of the "Attack +17" SB light Armors (Cloud, Bartz, Seipher, Laguna) and an Attack+17 Heavy armor (Garland), so my Armor choices are pretty obvious regardless of realm.

I do keep 4*+ Helms/Braces though, they always have their uses.

That said I have like 5 random Heavy Armors from different realms that are natural 5* that I just want to grind into Rosetta Stones but am hesitant, its hard to throw away a 5* Armor even if you know realistically you'll never ever use it.

If you're going to consider ditching double cast on Yuna in favor of more SB gauge, it would almost certainly be better to use dr mog's teachings/mako might over knight's charge.

Mako might gets you an extra SB bar frontloaded. Knight's charge won't catch up to that until you've generated your 5th bar being a straight +25% SB gauge to all actions and damage received. If, for whatever reason, the fight actually drags out this long, the benefit of knight's charge is very marginal as you won't even be a full bar ahead until the 10th bar, at which point you've probably long ran out of hones and lost the fight.

As for defensive gear, with a shout team, I prioritize getting my physical attackers to 393 attack (soft cap after shout), then defensive gear as long as i can maintain 393 attack or very close. There are a lot of 17 attack high defense armors coming, which generally are plenty provided you have 5* or 4*++ RS weapons for the realm.

Ult: ignore protectga, use fire weakness.
Ult+: bring both mitigations (breakdowns, steal power thief raid on rikki backrow). Forgot dispel so counter protect wrecked my physical dds. But the real power was meltdown and chain blizzaga which absolutely obliterated him (braska used 6 shots of cb and 2 drainga; lu used 2 meltdown and 7ish waterja).

I might need to bring more firepower to this fight. I don't think I have the mitigation needed to win.

Mastered CM though it was messy. Had to rely on Faris BSB RW for breaks since I didn't want to egg Wakka and Rikku would have been dead weight running Multi Break + Breakdown dance. Very close fight in the end.

    All Back row:
    Rikku (70) - Dismissal | Bard Protect - Snow's RM2 +def/atk - Machina Sabatoge (used only once)
    Paine (70) - Banishing Strike | Saint's Cross - Agrias's RM2
Lulu (70) - Waterja | Drainga - Witch of Succession
Braska - Firaja | Shellga - Devotion - Aeon SSB
Yuna - Curaja | Haste - Hymn of the Fayth
RW - Beryl Serpent (I had a synergy RW where it hit 4.5k/hit, but wouldn't pop on my winning run)
