What do you mean? Young children never quite understand the concept of death. They'll simply experiment with things they see, because they are curious. Its the same reason you have to be careful with children on a busy street, they have no idea that the oncoming car will kill them.

This is a shame because they were so young, even though my gut reaction is to think how dumb it is. I don't know what else you expect to happen when you act out an execution, but still it's pretty bad and I feel for the family.
