As to not shit up the economy thread, new STONKS thread.

The stalling Debt Ceiling talks are pretty much shitting up everything from the S&P 500 to crypto. The US Treasury Secretary Yellen says that the US will run out of cash on October 18th after exhausting all extortionary measures to pay the bills.

Energy prices are creeping upwards. Supply Chains are still all gummed up. Inflation fears. Delta and other variant fears could curtail economic reopening.

But we can all put our faith in memestonks that are still up for the year.

Crypto needs an adult.

As regulators circle cryptocurrency, acting Comptroller of the Currency Michael Hsu warned that the U.S. could be heading for a new financial crisis if oversight over the industry isn’t tightened.

“If the crypto industry doesn’t evolve or is more responsible, then we will be headed” for a potential rerun of 2008, Hsu told Yahoo Finance in an exclusive interview. The official is one of several crypto skeptics within the Biden administration who have taken more of a hardline on regulating the booming digital coin movement.

Hsu sounded the alarm, but noted there’s still some time to guard against a crisis. He doesn’t expect the sector will blow up in the near term. “But we are at a point where there need to be some adults in the room that guide this industry into a more responsible place,” he added.

Hsu appeared to be sending a warning to the industry – regulate yourselves before the government over-regulates you.

“I’m telling the industry today, you know what best practices are. You should impose that on yourselves now before there’s a crisis and people lose money,” said Hsu. “There are real people now putting their money into this industry and if they’re not responsible those people will lose money.”

Looks like dwac is the trumpet version of GameStop.

I sold my soul on crtd this morning as it’s similar but had options. Up 63% so far.

Edit: And it may be dead. Lots of halts seem to have killed the momentum. I do expect a big pump then dump if they add options over the weekend.

Any idea why Tesla is popping? Up almost 80 a share today and making me wish I sunk more money in them. Bought 3 shares when I started my portfolio in august and shit has gained 53% since then.

Let's be frank for a second here. That contract is fat for Tesla. But that's a long term production fleet contract that won't be filled for at least 10-15 years. Longer if the supply chains don't recover.

The US really needs to start up some domestic semiconductor production already.
