    Tech question: USB Audio devices

    Basically the situation is that I cannot seem to set my headset to be the default audio device. If the desktop speakers are plugged in, they assume the default position. If I unplug them, then my headset assumes the default position. I've poked around in the audio device properties menu, but I can't find a way to appoint one device default over another. Both my speakers and my headset use USB ports, if that makes a difference. Anyone have a solution? I don't want to have to pull my case out and unplug devices every time I want to change from headset to speakers.

    control panel -> sound

    also many apps can be setup to use different devices. IE winamp blaring through my speakers while I'm using teamspeak on my headset.
