LA Trip - Need Activities/Dinner Recommendations

Going to have 2-3 days with gf in LA region, what would you guys recommend?

Looking to visit the must-see locations, have a romantic dinner on 14th (and probably other nights as well). We've been to the northern part of CA, so won't looking for a day trip to SF, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions in advance. Figured locals/previous visitors here would provide much more tailored advice

Rent out a cabin in Big Bear. I hear the rates are hot.

We'll be visiting from Switzerland, living at a region full of lakes and mountains so nature-focused trips aren't in priority looking for more culture-lifestyle oriented activities.

There's a veritable bonfire of culture there.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I side with Ksandra, but then again I'm a Disney nut. If you do Disneyland and looking for a romantic yet pricey meal, check out Napa Rose or Steakhouse 55

If it's culture you're after, I recommend weekend brunch at The Sidewalk Cafe in Venice Beach followed by a long stroll on the boardwalk. Seriously, do it.

Someone give him some good Korean BBQ recommendations! I can't remember which place I went to in LA, but it was delicious.

Universal Studio and the transformer 3D is a must see, if it is still there.

In 2-3 days, I doubt you'll be able to cover even 30% of what LA has to offer. Prioritize the good shit, Disneyland (STAY FOR FANTASMIC AT THE END OF THE NIGHT, IT SINGLE HANDEDLY MADE MY CHILDHOOD MAGICAL!!!!), Palm Springs if you wanna get away, Hollywood/Rodeo Drive/Beverly Hills (tour guiding) if you want the typical touristy stuff. You can find tour guides on Hollywood Blvd near Hollywood and Highland, and Kodak Theatre, Chinese Graumans, Arclight Cinema, Amoeba records, are all within walking distance from there.

Griffith Observatory is rad, and you can hike up to it to make a fun day of it, highly recommend that if you're into Spacey/nerdie stuff. Venice Beach has lots of cool little shops, Santa Monica Pier is neat to check out, but the rides are pricey and the beach is dirty, there's another awesome beach, the one they shot Bay Watch, I forget the name of it, but it's really well maintained and nice and clean.

And that's barely scratching the surface. Tons of cheap shopping at outlet malls, a plethora of amazing restaurants, tons of clubs/bars/lounges if you're into that. Tons of strip joints and medicinal marijuana shops and guys on the street to offer you vicodin if you're into that.

Also, don't drink the tap water. Buy bottled.

Edit: You used to be able to get free tickets to Jimmy Kimmel live back when I lived there. Show up at 5pm and get to see the recording of the show live. That was a lot of fun. Check online and you can see what celebs and bands will be recorded on what day. Tickets for Leno, Conan, Ellen, Price is Right, etc, etc are hard as fuck to get, but worth going if you can get em.

I would recommend go there 5-10mins before X.00 oclock, so that you can see the tesla coil show, if you plan to go there. I have forgotten it took them for one or two hours for recharging, just for a 2minutes demo.

Just don't drive around with a Big Black Guy and should be fine.

On a lighter note, I second Disney as well. Great place, and miss being in California after living there for 13 years

Damn am I too late to this thread? Definitely recommend going to Disney if you're in town. Already here, might as well go and enjoy the place! California Adventure is nice now too with Cars Land.

Few places to check out - Queen Mary, Discovery Cube, Natural History Museum, Blizzard Campus (if you got the hookups).

For food, definitely try out some good KBBQ places. This is one of my personal favorite hole in the wall joints for KBBQ - http://www.yelp.com/biz/saeng-gogi-nara-los-angeles
If you have time, try to look out for the food trucks too. Kogi is awesome if you ever happen to be in the area where its trucks are at.

Thanks for the great recommendations guys, will definitely mark this thread and go for the activities posted here next time I visit LA. Unfortunately, this time gf got a heavy flu so we decided to cut our LA trip to a half day hollywood visit and stayed at San Francisco instead at very last minute.

Transformers 3D in Universal Studios was indeed awesome

Awesome and cheap: In-N-Out Burger; must go at least once in your life

Awesome: BCD Tofu House (don't worry, they have meat)
