I'm not sold anymore on day/time to synth, but has anyone else noticed a trend to HQ two things in a row, or crit-break, hq?

I've been noticing more and more with tier 1 things that if i break, and spam for another synth right after, i'll HQ that second synth about 50% of the time. That, or HQ two in a row.

I even went crit, hq, crit, hq, crit, hq, crit... that was a big window. 3 mahatma slops ftw!

So i'm starting to think i should just make stacks of rainbow cloth, and when i HQ or break a cloth, immediately i should try for a prism cape.

Anyone have feedback on this sort of trend?

I was synthing Cursed Finger Gauntlets last week and HQ'd 2 back to back. But I did do it on Lightsday and a New Moon. But the back to back synth'd shocked me.

Break->HQ is frequent enough that I always get excited when I break and have another synth waiting. "Woo! Here it cooooomes!" ^ ^

As for back-to-back, did two Cursed Greaves-1 back to back in a sitting and then 0/23 since then. What luck SE giveth, they soon taketh away.

On topic, I always view certain times of day as more likely to HQ. This is a superstition from the times I used to desynth shall shells none stop for 3 game days. I generally found that hqs were more common around midnight.

I don't believe that its true, but I follow it as one of my foolish superstitions.

haha i actually have my own little superstition like that too...

i PERSONALLY believe that in a 24hour vana'diel day, they calculate out each minute to either be a HQ/NQ/FAIL depending on your craft, skill, and what you're synthing. When you reach that point where the items disappear from your inventory, thats when the server reads what time it is ingame, your craft levels, and the levels of the item you're making, and then makes 1440 possible outcomes for each minute of the vana'diel day. Then it will read what the CURRENT time is, and compare that to its list of times, and your synth result will correspond with their list of HQ's and NQ's.

that's MY personal superstition, no evidence to support it, just something my head concocted one day when i was making stuff lol.

I think a better example is to look at what was said when you made the genie "I like breaks, HQ after breaks" Poof Genie weskit.

I think it's nothing special, but just something you actually notice when you Hq.

For example if you HQ after a break, you will remember that as Break -> Hq. So then you'll get to thinking that if you break you can Hq easier. But if you change that scenario a bit and you do an NQ synth, then HQ after it. You won't notice it as a big thing, unlike the Break -> Hq.

So you should compared all the times you HQ after a break, compared to all the times you Hq after an NQ. Then maybe that'll give you some better evidence as to if it really does make a difference or not. Just a thought.

Don't forget, in a parallel universe for t1's with one sub all HQ's a breaks and all breaks and HQ's.

If weeks, days have elements...why not time of the day? 3 game hours/element makes up a day anyways.

Been messing about with this over the past couple of weeks, I think I found the potential window for earth crystal though on a ludicrously small sample size.

Results testing window so far,

1/1 SH+1
2/5 Lamian Kaman +1
3/5 TM Hooks +2
1/1 Carapace Helm +1 (t1 guild item ftw)

I varied moon and day every 2 or 3 synths. Though kept them related to earthsday. After this run I will carry on "researching" for the good of the wider community of course :wink:

Next up my retarded pursuit of a Genie Weskit to call my own 0/130 or so + or - a few.

All were done with signing xstals, except the carapace helm but that was bound to hq simply because its a guild item....

Amandar recorded every single synth from 1>100 alchemy, including time direction weather, break or hq etc. Trying to contact him would probably be the best choice :D He gave me a few tips like crafting between 12:00 to 12:30 and in the first 6hrs of the day or last 1hr of the day, if you wanna try it out. Actually I should contact him sometime and get all his data, now that he quit he probably won't care about keeping it secret.

Personally, I just synth when I feel like it :D I always HQ when I don't really care if I HQ or not :S

Shuvo, if you ever do get that and don't mind sharing, I do alot of charts/graphs and just general statistical analysis with Excel and other accounting programs I use at work (when i'm not wasting time on these boards lol).

I'd be happy to break it down into day/time windows, moon phase etc. Of course that info would only tell us about skill ups mostly and not HQs, but still might be nice to examine.
