Star Ocean: Second Evolution, the PSP enhanced port of Star Ocean: The Second Story, is getting a PlayStation Vita release, and Square Enix announced that it’s headed to PlayStation 4, too.

Feels like a missed opportunity to not make it a SO1-3 collection. Would have been a decent package. Never played Rena's side of the game at any rate so that's an excuse for another run through of SO2 when this comes out, because god forbid SE of America ever put their non-FF PS1/PSP shit on PSN.

Star Ocean 2 is probably my all time favourite PS1 RPG, and I've played the shit out it on both PS1 and PSP, so here's hoping they add more content, or a full blown remake. Would buy 2 copies just to show support, deadly serious.

Yeah, but aside from the upped bitrate I can't say that the results were much better. They also completely redid the translation, i.e. heraldic magic is now crest magic, etc; I only played up to where you get Ashton or so on my PSP copy, so I'm not familiar with the full extent of the changes but it on the balance I'm not sure if it's an improvement.

From the official site, the port will include a new theme song, higher quality graphics and music, trophy support, and DLC support for game boost. The game will release this month in Japan digital only, no NA announcement at this point. :/

Hope we get a release date soon... Loved this game so damn much. I think, aside from a game called "The 7th Saga", this was one of my first RPGs I beat... took me forever as a kid.

Looks great. I dont remember ronaxis having voice acting in the original but its been a long time.

I remember the in-battle noises/words but I'm also having a hard time remembering if ... Voice Acting was a thing in that game. I remember reading a lot, so I'm pretty sure there was no voice acting then, in the english at least.

I also don't remember portraits in the text.

I'm liking this port so far.
