Well i have some 3Com phones here, but they need a certain software version to work, i received 2 more today. But the first one are still in the box, because we cant make it work.

Me: Boss, so what do we do about this?
Boss: The guy (we sold the phones) says they should work.
Me: hmm...

so we get into MSN:
PhoneGuy: hey
Boss: Explain to him about the phones.
Me: well, blah, blah blah blah.
minutes pass...

Sounds like my day. I've been working with IBM about a product that should work in our environment but doesn't. I've been waiting for a response for about 3 days now.

If fucking sucks, because i know a lot of shit about the 3Com thingie, but cant do a thing because the PhoneGuy is just a reseller. And my company takes ages to process orders of this kind.

So bored, I started up a conversation with the cafeteria chef at lunch. Also been surfing non-stop. I'm running out of websites and will reach the end of the interwebs soon.

OH! Here's my work problem atm:

I'm entering payments that companies have made to my company. The server I input these into is not at this location, it's in Queens. So I have to use Remote Desktop Connection to put the information in.

A couple weeks ago I'm putting the data into the spreadsheet. I'm done and I click the "Post" button, which means, "Post these payments to all these accounts."

I checked the report afterwards and the fucking program copied the dollar amount of the first payment the ENTIRE way down the spreadsheet FOUR times. A 68,000 dollar entry turned into a 360,000 dollar entry.

We got a hold of the company that makes the software and they're like "lol we dunno" so basically i'm sitting here with a shitload of spreadsheets I can't post to continue my stuff because we're afraid if we post anything else, it's gonna happen again.

I have a couple drivers that work directly under me, as well an a crew of warehouse people. Ironically, I am younger than my entire staff of workforce. (I run the logistics division of a major supplier of packaging and shipping products). My day consists of:

Me: Ok (driver 1), I need to you take "x product" and deliver it to "y company"
Me: Ok (driver 2), I need you to take "z product" and deliver it to "b company"

Drivers leave:

Bored for the next few hours while drivers make their runs. I'll spend a couple of minutes with my warehouse people telling them what they need to get ready for any later deliveries. Sometimes have to deal with incompetant plant managers at other companies, that's probably the worst part of my job.

Other than that, 7:30-4pm MON-FRI. I take lunch whenever I want for however long I want (within reason) and get what amounts to about a month of paid time off a year between paid vacation and paid sick leave. I love my job, It's a damn shame I'll have to quit soon for student teaching.
