House of Nasty

My Girlfriend works in real estate. Not the nice new home part of the business, the nasty grungy "we have to take your home back because you don't pay your mortgage" side of the business. I get to see pictures of some of the nastiest, craziest living situations imaginable. This one, is by far THE most horrible I have ever seen. Hands down. This takes the vomit cake.


This mess is the homeowner's livingroom floor. There is a floor somewhere at least.

Most young people have a breaking point. You know, they move out for the first time and go "OMG! I don't have mom telling me to clean my room! I can do the bare minimum and nobody will tell me otherwise!" Eventually, they get a bug infestation, get embarrassed in front of a friend or S.O., or just plain get sick of it and they start keeping a clean place like most other adults.

there was a guy a few years back in the area I was born in, he never left his house, had everything delivered, when he finally died they entered the house and found he had 3 feet of super compressed trash evenly packed into his home, and I mean packed with a hand stamper, he had even laid carpet over it two or three times. it was something that had to be cut away and the stench was unbearable. he had no sense of smell so he basically didnt care, anything he could do there was done, and I mean anything

my room is not exactly pretty but Ill be damned if I dont pick it up often, most of my issues come from not having enough space

This thread wins. I'm a massive fan of a BBC show from a few years back called Life of Grime (I don't know if it was ever truly shown in the states despite doing a New York version) which is like a moving version of this.

The person taking pictures mostly stood in doorways, or snapped a shot from an open window etc. They would not enter the house for long periods of time, it smelled too bad.

I've seen stuff like that in colorado where the rent is like 4 times what the ski lift workers make in a month for a 1 room house.

when i delivered fridges for an appliance company, i had to go to a house like this. out in the sticks, single wide. 90yr old lady w/ a cat for every year she'd been alive. there was a 4 foot radius of cat piss around the front door. got the fridge out of the house... was heavy as shit. she told us the freezer was frozen shut and thats y it was so heavy. when i went to pull the dolly up onto the truck the freezer burst open and it was literally... once more, literally filled all the way w/ maggots and rotting meat. i refused to finish the delivery and left the nasty fridge and my lunch laying where i dropped it.
