Didn't want to emo it up so I'll spoiler the background story, mainly curious about reverse lookup.

So I lost my Blackberry Saturday and I figured it was lost for good but it was called into my work's IT department as lost. I've talked to him so I have his name/number but I am pretty sure this guy is dickin me around. I was never near the place he found it, the found was reported lost at 945AM Sunday morning, and he said he found it and turned it in at a restaurant that wasn't even open then. I realize my chances of getting it back are slim to none but I want to try to put some pressure on this guy before filing a police report (like that'll help at all but it may pressure him into turning it over).

So mainly I was wondering if there was anyway to reverse lookup his address via his cell phone reliably? I tried a bunch of sites and the last step to get his info always asks for $ and I don't feel like it is worth $15 to risk getting nothing. If I do pay, is it guaranteed there is an address/name or could I pay and they just tell me there is no result? I'd feel better if I could order him pizzas/gay porn whenever I missed my blackberry lol.

Cell phones are hit and miss, youre guaranteed nothing.

Reverse lookups are legal, even with cell phones. Land lines are easy and free to get a hold of, but cell phones are hit and miss, even if you use a pay service. The middlemen and flexablilty of cell phones just make it unpredictable.

Not all the time you're guaranteed to get his name and address even if that reverse cell phone number lookup directory website mentions that when you search that number. However, why would you bother paying for those services when you can do free reverse phone lookup using google as I always do, you just search in google with that number, and most likely you're going to get his name and address listed somewhere on websites or social media networking site, give it a try!

Although Blackberry phones are terrible devices that should be eradicated (which their maker's continuing failure in the marketplace may handle), thereby making me wonder why I'd offer recovery advice, I'll ask you this: have you bothered to go to the restaurant?

I don't understand why it matters if you weren't near there, as someone else may have found your phone first, and then abandoned it. Secondly, even if the eatery wasn't open for business, that doesn't mean there weren't people there cleaning, stocking, or doing any of the other things that enable businesses to actually operate during their normal hours.

Also, have you tried calling the restaurant itself?

They do so while trying to increase their post count, I imagine.

If I'd noticed while phone posting, I would've refrained from contributing, and yet, I'm only thankful for having taken advantage of an opportunity to call someone's judgment into question—even if they'll never know.

Maybe, somewhere, somehow, they'll know, and they'll regret.
