    Stress Test August 24th

    I find this rather important for lunch so yes i'm making an new thread for this

    But this is on Dev-NA



    We would like everyone to participate in our stress test by creating a character on the Shadowlord world.

    Also, in order to make the stress test even more effective, all testers will only be able to create new characters on the Shadowlord world during the time listed below. If you currently have a character on another world, you will be able to continue testing on that world as normal. However, we would appreciate it if you could assist us by playing on the specified server.

    Aug. 24, 2010 from 2:30 to 18:30 (PDT)
    * The end time is subject to change, depending on how long the inspection process will take.

    Shit is unplayable.

    I want to help, but there's not much you can do starting as Archer (dumb) when NPCs aren't loading and you can't access the Aethyrite for the first levequest. Especially when you need that gil for more arrows.

    Well sure, but if I'm going to actually divert any attention away from working, I'd like it to be productive.

    Actually testing testing (trying to break things, looking for bugs, etc.) is productive.

    I think the lfg menu shows all the players in the current region, and zone.

    Oh well, time to have one last fuck around on Jecht.

    [EDIT] Fuck it, game decided to crash 30sec after logging in.

    Fun. After trying in vain for 5 minutes, I managed to attack a "frozen" Aldgoat as a LV 1 Gladiator. Me and a friend whacked away at it for a good 5 minutes (we brought it down to 85%. Yay!) without any opposition whatsoever. Until ... suddenly the Goat decided it was about time to wag it's tail to drive away the flies. Killed both of us in one swing. Without moving.

    I actually checked how many players were online at that time. Guess?

    A meagre 670.

    Current servers: [weak] [impossible to gauge].

    I don't think doing searches is an accurate way to see how many ppl were online. It's very glitchy and just doesn't seem to work right. But I'd assume there was a lot more then 670

    670 spread across 2 zones on potentially weaker hardware than release and tons of debug processing isn't terrible.

    Considering a single zone, 670 is a lot, but in terms of server yeah it seems light. Who knows exactly what was tested. Zone load, server load, things can change Im sure FFXIV will have big enough servers to play at an enjoyable level.

    670 doesn't sound good enough for one region, although that doesn't take into account how the players are divided between the different zones in the region. If it's 300 players in limsa lominsa and another 300 at bearded rock, it's no surprise to see lots of lag.

    1200 people sounds like an alright number for the whole region.
