So, I saw on a google news banner that a website (mcrubino.com) was selling some PS3's, cheap, and since I was looking for a DS lite for my girlfriend, I figured that they might have some good deals, and they do. DS lites for 79.99, 360 elites for 249.99, and a bunch of other stuff like that that is a pretty good deal. The question becomes: Is this a scam?

If anybody has heard of this site, or used it successfully, it would be appreciated if you could let me know if this is on the up and up, because that would be a sweet deal.

I don't trust whois, as it can be faked/private/madeup (Like the one for my site, I can makeup info, atm I've got it set as private)

Though the site appears to be in Canada, the headers in the email it sends when you create an account comes from Russia:

server075-001.serverboom.ru


That and they apparently ask you to wire money? (from what I saw) which can be redirected to whoever in russia, where US law wouldn't really be able to do anything about your transaction with'em.

It might take a week for that random info to spreadout to the whois databasses but it will showup like that when looked up if I change it

Like said above, anything from russia/china/germany is usually a scam

Don't check a whois... check their website, like contact info and see where it comes from and how they do transactions because that almost always has to lead to who is doing the scam in some way so they can get your money/credit card info etc.

well, if this is russia it could make sense.

1 year ago exchange rate for dollar was 24 rubles.

today it's 34 rubles.

So let's say they bought a 200 ps3 1 year ago, for $249 each costing them 5976 rubles.

now they can turn around and sell the same machine for 209 dollars, or 7106 rubles.

they proxy this through Canada to avoid tariffs, and it makes sense.

Dude, that's a block and a half from my house, and I have never heard of this company. Probably a scam.

Edit: I mistook Rd for Blvd. It's more like 3 and a half blocks. On the other hand, that does make the address offices. I still say scam.
