Cautiously optimistic but it could be a great game if they have local/online multiplayer races, battlemodes, solo races, and unlocking new karts/chars thru coins collected during the race. If there are micro-transactions, only allow it to unlock skins/designs for karts and players (Different color Yoshi's, Shyguy's, etc) and not unlocking new karts. Also, set the price below $6...Mario Run was too expensive for what little you got.

Delayed to Summer 2019

In the smart-device business, Mario Kart Tour was scheduled to be released this fiscal year, but in order to improve quality of the application and expand the content offerings after launch, the release date has been moved to summer 2019. As we endeavor to develop future planned applications, we will also focus on continued service operations for applications that have already been released so that consumers can enjoy playing them for a long time.

Not here to piss in cornflakes, but did you expect anything else from a Japanese F2P? Honest question.

Its still in beta so if the outcry is loud enough, they may tone some of it back, but I wonder how the JP side of the playerbase feels about the current systems.

Nintendo isn't going to make another pay once-for-full-game mobile game again since Mario Run did so poorly. We'll have to wait and see how annoying it is to get characters and karts or w/e but if fire emblem and animal crossing mobile are any indication I doubt people will have to spend money to enjoy the game. Not like there's any wifu's to collect in Mario Kart.

I was reading that technically you don't even have to control the car. If you just start a race, it will finish on it's own without any player input.

That sounds really lame if true. Supposedly Dry Bowser is ultra rare or whatever they called it also. We'll see if anything changes from the beta to full release. Wasn't really expecting anything amazing from this game at any rate.

Game is out played it a bit

It’s more fun then expected. But yeah car accelerate by itself

All you do is throw items and drift


There is an option to help you stay on track or not and to manual or auto drift

Ever character is useful you receive points in race by doing drift tricks finishing first etc and you get stars depending on points you make. Stars are used to open new races

Races works as a season that last 2 weeks.

Also depending on which racer or kart you chose it’s “easier” exemple if you chose toad in the toad race if you get a box you will have 3 items instead of 1

Maybe it's just the racer I got stuck with (Toad, which has always been my goto since SMK), but it feels like I can barely shift between left/right turning with the drift controls? Would have much preferred tilt controls with landscape view with taps/holds for item use and hop+drift.

[EDIT] Ok, after doing the first set of courses, this thing is hot trash. Bots-only for now (don't let the fake NA/JP player names fool you), the controls are garbage (steer-only or drift-only+miniboost controls w/ sloppy gyro optional), and I know my phone is old at this point, but this game runs TERRIBLE for how it looks visually, in both performance/non-performance mode, which they should rename it to "Make it look worse than a 3ds game and turns off the trackmap".

It's honestly so sad to see Nintendo going with these low quality, shit tier vomitware mobile games instead of making a genuine effort toward producing genuine mobile interpretations of their IPs. Dragalia Lost and Fire Emblem Heroes remain the only worthwhile Nintendo-backed mobile games, but they could do so much more and transcend that gacha garbage if they applied themselves to making, say, actual Mario Kart/Animal Crossing/Pokemon/etc. experiences for mobile devices. They don't have to be free to play microtransaction packed cash grabs.

But I guess that's all just dumb hopefulness, making cheap games like this is far easier and more profitable.
