Fantasy Football 2009: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em, Trade 'Em

It's that time of the year again ladies and gentlemen (mainly gentlemen lolsexism)

This is the Fantasy Football thread discussion thread. Most of you may have already had your drafts but you can post draft questions here as well.

Two weeks ago, I attended a panel at Ditka's in Chicago where we got to meet the Yahoo! fantasy sports experts (I won Bears tickets of my choice in a raffle there!).

Here are some tips and players they said to look out for and avoid:

Avoid: Thomas Jones and LTomlinson are not going to be as good as they have been.

Consistent WRs: TJ Housh. and Ochocinco will have nice rebounding seasons.

    Sleeper WR: Chris Henry

    Sleeper RB: Ray Rice

Good luck with your fantasy seasons.

I don't see why Thomas Jones won't have at least a productive year. If they start Sanchez, I can see them handing the ball off quite a bit. I don't know the Jets schedule at all, so maybe that's why.

People need to quit dickriding Chris Henry. That's my bitch.

Sanchez has already been declared starter, no? I think teams will stack 8 in the box and force Sanchez to beat them. TJones is a horse.

My sleeper this year is Hakeem Nicks, I think he is going to emerge as a beast in a WR core that is mediocre at best.

I guess I wrote that the wrong way. He's still going to be a solid RB, but I think they were trying to say he isn't going to have the ridiculous season he had last year.

Oh gawd MORE SPORTS THREADS, SOUND DA SENOALARM

Anyway, I grabbed Housh as a 10th rounder this year as a backup WR, was pretty surprised when he was still off the board that late, I guess people don't have much faith in him. But even in the pre-season he seems like a go-to guy.

I think Roy Williams will have a huge year in Dallas as well. Him and Romo seem to have great chemistry coming out of camp. I never thought him and TO got along well, I think Roy will get the majority of receptions with Witten close behind him.

Obviously he went too high in the draft to be called a "sleeper" but I think Forte might have the best year out of any RB. Peterson may suffer from teams stacking the box against him thinking that Favre doesn't have the arm to take shots downfield anymore.

Dahaan can make as many sports threads as he wants. He's the NFL thread messiah. We are awaiting his resurrection and return to earth.

So you can ban him for making another sports thread?

I agree with this completely. Williams seems to have a chip on his shoulder and I personally think teams are going to stack 8 in the box to try to clamp down on Felix and Barber and make Romo try to beat them with out TO. Felix being a home run threat every time, Barber beasting and all the focus being on Witten in the passing game I can see Wiliams having a break out year.

Plus his "Everybody thinks I suck" quote is too awesome for words.

In my autodraft league, the first 3 waiver moves I made were to pick up Ray Rice, Bo Scaife, and Hakeem Nicks. Dropped LJ, Scheffler, and Hixon (my receivers are already pretty stacked, plus I can probably pick him up again later if need be)

Without saying who's who, who would you start. Here's the stats and point totals from last year.

Probably the bottom guy, even though he had much less rushing TDs, he must have been hurt or suspended or something in the middle of the year. If he's healthy this year he should perform better, and he seems to be more of a dual threat with all the recieving yards and touchdowns.

PS you shoulda blacked out the records, I think we can figure out who #1 is given the 0-16 lol

    Missed that, oh well.

#1 was Smith and #2 was Bush? Couldn't figure that out until I looked at receiving yards lol

Anyway, I'd start Smith this year though. Bush's targets seemed to fall off a bit when they realized they had a quality backup on the team. Smith has no competition on the Lions lol

I'm too important and too good to be banned. You must be new if you didn't already know this.

Obviously this is the case. You must be new if you didn't already know Tyche closed out our old sports threads. Cause he's a bastard. But you're too important and too good to know that apparently

Welt and I are in a CBS Fantasy League and wow this shit is weird. They have FG kickers making more points than Turner/Gore and other top RBs...

Some RBs not even getting a point, 15 yards = 1 pt...

I played on CBS for a long time because my cousin runs a league there, and man kicker scoring was just dumb.

I absolutely cannot stand leagues where kickers score a ton of points. They are by far the most retardedly random position in all of fantasy football.
