    FFRK - Dungeon Update Discussion

    Making a thread for dungeon updates. When a new DU comes out, I can just hide the previous one in a spoiler tag and add a link to where discussion of specific DU's begin. In any case, it's here if people decide to use it.

    Dungeon Update 18 - ETA: 1/23

    Realms in update: IX, V, VI
    Mythril: 14
    Max Stamina: 155 3/5

    Unlocked Hero's: Gau
    Memory Crystals:
    • Viking: RM1 = +10% DMG w/ Hammers. RM2 = Attack becomes charge (1.8x dmg, 3 sec cast time)
    • Fusoya: RM1/2 = Red Mage Spring 1/2


    ==== IX Dungeons ====

    Ipsen's Castle
    Boss: Taharka
    Difficulty: 92/110
    Victory Conditions: No KO, use Wind
    Boss Notes:
    • |Weak| Fire, Wind. |Resists| Ice. |Null| Earth
    • Vulnerabilities: Silence, Sleep
    • Uses both single target and AoE Blizzaga (hits for 2500 on Classic w/o any mitigation and 240 RES). Physical attacks as well.


    Trash Notes:
    • Malboro's can use Bad Breath (single target)
    • Ahriman can instant KO
    • Enemies appear solo in all rounds



    Earth Shrine
    Boss: Earth Guardian
    Difficulty: 93/113
    Victory Conditions: No KO, use Wind
    Boss Notes:
    • |Weak| Holy, Wind. |Resists| Dark. |Absorbs| Earth
    • Vulnerabilities: Blind, Sleep
    • Uses both physical and magic attacks, Magic hits for ~2800 damage with 240 RES and no mitigation on Classic.


    Trash Notes:
    • Malboro's can use Bad Breath (single target)
    • Ahriman can instant KO
    • Enemies appear solo in all rounds

    Death Valley
    Boss: Antlion
    Difficulty: 92/116
    Victory Conditions: No KO, use Water
    Boss Notes:

    • Vulnerabilities: Sleep, Confuse, Berserk, Blind
    • Uses only single target physical attacks


    Trash Notes:
    • Use only single target physical attacks



    Pyramid
    Boss: 2 Gargoyles
    Difficulty: 93/121
    Victory Conditions: No KO, use Stop
    Boss Notes:
    • |Absorb| Holy
    • Vulnerabilities: Stop, Sleep, Blind
    • Division: Fully Resurrect other Gargoyle
    • Fusion: Self-KO and fully heal other Gargoyle
    • Use of Stop/Sleep is highly recommended


    Trash Notes:
    • Trash comes in levels after the boss fight



    The Elder Wood
    Boss: Melusine
    Difficulty: 95/128
    Victory Conditions: No KO, use Sleep
    Boss Notes:
    • |Weak| Varies |Null| All except Fire/Ice/Lightning |Absorb| Varies
    • Vulnerabilities: Paralyze, Sleep, Blind
    • Uses a Wall Shift to change vulnerabilities during the fight
    • Always starts in Fire weak state
    • Also has a physical weak state
    • Make it easy on yourself and just keep her locked with Sleep (which is required) and/or Paralyze


    Trash Notes:
    • None.



    ==== VI Dungeons ====

    Cyan's Dreamscape 1
    Boss: The Dream Stooges
    Difficulty: 95/133
    Victory Conditions: No KO
    Boss Notes:
    • Pink/Top Stooge: |Weak| Water, Ice |Absorb| Fire
    • Dark/Lower Left Stooge: |Weak| Fire |Absorb| Ice, Wind |Vulnerabilities| Silence, Confuse
    • Sleepy/Lower Right Stooge: |Absorb| Lightning Vulnerabilities: Blind, Stop
    • All 3 are able to self-reflect
    • Top one will cast silence/stop. Lower Right is a WHM type.


    Trash Notes:

    Cyan's Dreamscape 2
    Boss: Wrexsoul with 2 Soul Savers
    Difficulty: 98/141
    Victory Conditions: No KO, use Ice
    Boss Notes:
    • |Weak (All)| Ice |Absorb (All)| Fire, Holy
    • Wrexsoul Vulnerabilities: Blind
    • Soul Saver Vulnerabilities: Blind, Berserk, Confuse, Instant KO
    • Wrexsoul will occasionally possess a party member. This make him immune to damage until you attack the possessed party member, but you won't know which one it is.
    • Soul Savers can self-reflect. They can also drain magic abilities from your characters
    • If you kill both Soul Savers, Wrexsoul gains access to their attacks.
    • You'll want a lot of Magic Damage mitigation no matter what.

    I just finished the last runs on my main account. The dungeons themselves difficulty wise seem much harder than similar numbered event style dungeons.
    I need to work on elites though, Im so hilariously behind.

    Since they gave no ETA for next DU and no date was data mined, I think it's safe to say the slow down is here.

    it's listed above but just pointing out the ff5 dungeon with the gargoyles, you fight the gargoyles first then do trash levels after, like abductor. used aerith with mako might and default sb to get the stop medals.

    Or they simply translated the Japanese image. Apparently the preview for the next update also contains a mistake that was mined (I think?) in Japan and later fixed (image shows XII dungeons but we should be getting XIV instead). If they're slowing down I hope we're getting Ultima next month at least or it's gonna be a slow one with the AC event being super short.

    Pretty sure that image is just from someone who competed the event. I don't know why XII is shown instead of XIV, but not worried about it either way.

    There should be something in between the FFV event and the FFVII-AC event, there's a 12 day gap there. Could be a dungeon update. March looks to be jam packed. That anniversary celebration has a ton of stuff that came with it.

    Now to finish leveling Spellblade.

    • A party member can have a special type of Doom timer put on them. Defend before the timer reaches 0 to survive it. Timer starts at 20, you should be able to get 2-3 attacks off before having to defend.
    • Berserk can be a little annoying since it will for that character to use physical attacks which can trigger his counter.


    Trash Notes:
    • None.



    Yevon Dome 2
    Boss: Yunalesca
    Difficulty: 94/114
    Victory Conditions: No KO

    • If you did her Ultimate version there should be no surprises.

    • There's 3 rounds on the boss stage, you are able to use any spells/SB's in the round right before the boss.
    • Magic Abilities and Magic Soul Breaks are sealed for this fight! You can use Physical type SB's though. Even Lulu's Focus is able to be used.
    • You can use Galuf's invicibility RW to remove this seal from 1 character. Once invincibility wears off the seal will return.


    Trash Notes:
    • Enemies appear in waves of 2-3. Usually 3.



    Black Fork Tower
    Boss: Omniscient
    Difficulty: 98/141
    Victory Conditions: No KO
    Boss Notes:
    • |Weak| Wind |Resists| None. |Null| None. |Absorb| None.
    • Vulnerabilities: Stop / Blind / Slow
    • Any physical damage done to Omniscient will cause him to cast Return, bringing his HP back to full. This includes Retaliate.
    • He starts the battle with Regen, so bring dispel. It was healing for 3430 per tick on Classic.
    • He casts Flare on a single character right before he dies.


    Trash Notes:
    • Enemies appear in waves of 2-3. Usually 3.

    Airship 2
    Boss: Sin: Left Fin, Sin: Right Fin (Separate battles)

    • Vulnerabilities: None.
    • The fins start out of range, but will come into melee range after about 30% damage is done to them.
    • They're able to use Gravija so bring an AoE heal just in case.

    Airship 3
    Boss: Sinspawn Genais & Sin's Core
    Difficulty: 96/124
    Victory Conditions: No KO, Use Fire
    • Boss Notes:
      • Sinspawn Genais
      • |Weak| Fire |Resists| None. |Null| None. |Absorb| Water
      • Vulnerabilities: Silence / Slow

      • Sin Core
      • |Weak| None.|Resists| None. |Null| None. |Absorb| None.
      • Vulnerabilities: None.
    • You won't be able to target the Core until Genais is defeated.
    • At some point in the fight Genais will roll up into a ball (and stop attacking I believe) and the Core will start charging an attack. In about 2 turns he will cast Gravija.
    • Genais is able to use an attack that blinds all targets, so be prepared.


    Trash Notes:
    • Enemies appear in waves of 2.


    ==== XIV Dungeons ====

    Sastasha is unlocked by completing Mako Reactor No. 5 from FFVII.

    just did classic yunalesca, her first hellbiter missed cloud, which resulted in instant death later from megadeath. no, he didn't have dragoons determination or self sacrifice on, it just flat out missed. so, watch out for that I guess.

    Did you have Retaliate up? That would cause an automiss.
