    Processor Upgrade Help

Im looking to replace my current CPU (Amd Athlon 64 x2 4000+ AM2 65nm) with a AMD Athlon X2 6000+ Dual-Core Processor - 3.00 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, Socket AM2, 125W, 90 nm. Simple question is can my motherboard (M2A-VM HDMI) take the new processor? Only reason I'm asking is the whole 65nm/90nm difference thing. From the searching I've done it seems the only difference between 65nm/90nm is power consumption but I'd like some confirmation from the technical geniuses of BG. Gracias in advance.

Power consumption. Which also equates to less head emitted.

So assuming my power supply can eat it then it would be a decent upgrade?

Yep. Should be fine assuming the socket is compatible and there are no power problems. Although I would go for at least a quad core, but I can understand some people preferring dual-core over quad because some games don't fully utilize multi-cores yet.

I guess I am more of a future-proofer, which means pretty much nothing in the PC world as new and better shit gets released nearly every damn day.
