Wide Open: 2009-10 College Basketball Season

I feel that as one of the primary representatives for UNC on the board, I should be afforded the privilege of starting the annual college basketball thread.

Tonight was the official start of practice, and most of the major programs held their Midnight Madness shows. Carolina was no different - I'll have some crappy iPhone pics up in a little bit.

Unlike last year, when UNC was a wire-to-wire favorite and champion, this season is wide open. The early front-runners are probably Kentucky, Kansas and Michigan State, but I expect dook and Nova to field good teams as well. And of course Carolina will contend, just with a completely different cast.

Give us the down-low on your team this year, and talk shit to your rival. I expect good banter and and an even better season.

Uconn has some good returning peices as well, should never count them out.

As far as the heels go, our success will depend heavily on how well Drew III, Zeller and Wall play. We have some good pieces too, but alot of youngsters, hopefully ginyard's senior presence will pay dividends.

Haven't heard much news regarding big changes but I did hear Syracuse picked up some 7 footer. If they can forge some inside-out action I think they'll be a big threat.

Nah I have no clue what I was thinking, but I meant John Henson. Wall was considering the heels at one point, but I figured he would end up in Kentucky or Louisville.

Yea, no chance he's talking about Watts, he's just a practice player.

Not looking forward to this year for Syracuse. They picked up some "decent" kids but it might be a long year.

aaaaaaand beyond that, not sure if we'll have anything else to write home about this season. We'll see though; however, Mike Brey is still our coach and he is my John Fox, no lie.

There's reports that Wall, Kentucky's freshman point, might be ineligible for receiving money from an agent.

Calipari AT IT ALREADY! Kentucky's going to win a few titles in the next few years, I just hope Wildcat fans enjoy them before they are stripped away...

The season officially started today, with UNC's unimpressive 14 pt win over The Harasser's FIU squad.

Friday, we get to the see the first of many vacated wins for Kentucky.

I realize it's just one game, Thompson played well, Davis played well, but we had way too many T.Os, but the biggest thing I pulled away from this game is where is the 3 point shooting going to come from.

Good thing I held off or I'd be apologizing for that indiscretion I made six hours ago.
