    Overwriting BRD songs

So, I was messing around on BRD and I cast songs in this order

    Minuet
    Madrigal
    Pianissimo > Ballad
    Pianissimo > Ballad II

For some reason, I end up with Madrigal and Ballad II at the end. Why is this? (I end up with Ballad I if I swap the order, too)

Sorry, probably a total noob question, but in my defense, it's my friend's BRD.

Should be because of the strength of instrument+ duration. Someone can probably correct me on that but I'm pretty sure that is it.

The song you cast will replace the song with the least lasting duration. If you cast Ballad (which obviously has no instrument for it) right after Madrigal (w/ instrument) you're going to end up with a Madrigal that has more duration left than Ballad, despite being cast sooner. The new song (in your case, Ballad again) will replace the other Ballad.

Shortest song (duration left) always loses and gets overwritten. That's about it.

As others have said, it's to do with having instruments extending duration. Either give yourself a 10 second break between the offending spells, or reverse the order you cast them in.

    ^ what he said.
gotta wait those 20ish seconds bonus from instruments have passed for ballad to overwrite, so just take some times to elegy/finale/stoneskin after your melees buffs, then proceed to ballad~

Just wanted to say that you don't have to wait the full 20 seconds to start casting ballad. It takes 8 seconds to cast ballad, so you should only need to wait approximately 12 seconds.

    very true~
Was just saying it in a way that ballad need to finish after the added duration of instruments. i usually like the elegy/finale combo, or stoneskin single, as it's just what you need to pass time, run to mages, and start to cast a ballad that you'll benefit yourself too ^^

Another noob question--what's the duration of Minuet and Madrigal with a Cornette +1 and Traversire +1 (sp?)

I believe any basic enhancing song lasts 120 seconds.
"Song" +1 is an additional 12 seconds.
"Song" +2 is an additional 24 seconds.

So, 120, 132, and 144 second durations respectively, disregarding any Troubador/Nightingale.

    edit: fixed!

    Song Durations

I just did this 5 times in a row to be sure about timing, But Minuet/Madrigal songs are:
120 seconds, or 2:00. 50 game minutes. No Instrument.
    130 seconds, or 2:10. 55 game minutes +1 Instrument.
    145 seconds, or 2:25. 60 game minutes +2 Instrument.

Ballad, Even with Sha'ir or Yigit is still 8 seconds to cast So casting after waiting ~20 seconds is best.

    +1 instrument is +10% duration. So +1 gives 132 seconds, +2 gives 144 seconds.

Yeah it's 10% not 10 seconds for each additional +1 on an instrument. Nearly all buffs have a 2 minute duration, so a +2 Song would last for 2 minutes and 24 seconds.
