    Dentist broke my teeth

Ok BG. I had some cavities in my front teeth due to a rather serious drug habit and generally not giving a fuck. Went to the dentist, she did the x rays and gave me 5 fillings. My teeth look fantastic now, but where they didnt give me pain before I now have some pretty intense pain that I'm pretty sure is coming from the nerve. My question is twofold:

    1. Is this normal a couple weeks after dental work? Will it just settle on its own?
    2. If not, am I gonna have to pay this bitch more money to fix her own mistake?

Chun Liroy is correct. You spent a pissload of money at the dentist. I'm sure they'll tell you.

You should just go back and tell them what's going on.

I rescind my other comment. Call the dentist first. It's probably normal.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Coincidentally, this recently happened to my husband. Turns out he needs a root canal. I don't think she will fix it for free because it probably wasn't her mistake. Sounds like it's pretty normal to try a filling first to see if a root canal can be avoided.

But yes, you should go back. AND STOP DOING DRUGS.

Smoke some more meth, it might take care of the pain.

Give it some time and use some Sensodyne.

Yes, I did that on purpose.

My wife had cavities fixed and then had pain, like Ksandra said it ended up being that she needed a root canal too.

You might not need a root canal, I would recommend immediately taking some anti-inflammatory drugs and continue to take them until you see a dentist. It reduces the risk of irreversible pulpitis in some cases (possibly sparing you the expense of a root canal.)

I recently had all of my front teeth (top and bottom) re-done. TLDR on that was my prior dentist fucked up my enamel when I had braces which caused problems later on. Anyway, I had no pain whatsoever and didn't need a single one of my pain meds. About 2 weeks afterwards though, started getting REALLY sensitive to temperatures and they felt itchy/sandpapery. Turns out it's normal, especially if they used a composite material and not silver/mercury fillings. They hurt more while they heal, and some people have had pain/sensitivity for up to 6 months later. Sometimes there could also be a bubble in the filling which can cause pain if they didn't layer it right. If its a pounding pain that doesn't go away or just comes and goes as it pleases without stimulation like hot/cold, you should go back to the dentist.

Expensive yes, long no. Wife had a root canal done last year and I think the whole process took 90 minutes. Cost me about 200ish out of pocket after insurance though.
