What? Didn't Ubisoft get the memo? It's Japanese era time. Should've done AC in Japan!
AC Origins was a decent to very good game; don't sleep on the franchise now if you had AC fatigue in the last couple years.
I should pick up Origin's when its on sale.
I've played the 2 trilogy and 4 tho.
I was pondering starting the franchise up again. I think I stopped right around three, so currently I haven't played..
Black Flag
Syndicate
Rouge
Origins
And I'm sure I'm missing one in there somewhere -- the one that takes place in France I think? Which of those should I skip and which should I prioritize?
-Black Flag is the best in the series. By the end you'll be singing shanties along with your crew.
-Syndicate is also really good and the last of the 'classic' assassins creed.
-Rogue is one I've heard good things about, but since the initial release was on ps3 and I was getting into the new ps4 then I skipped this one.
-Origins plays like a totally different game. I couldn't even finish it because, while they made the world massive, it's just more of the same. It is a good game, but it can be even more tedious than the old ones just because of the scale of the world.
Rogue is on PC, PS4, & XB1 as well.

You don't want to skip Black Flag, it's pirates and assassin's what's not to love?
With Syndicate you have two playable characters which was new for the series. London is a pretty cool setting and I did enjoy the characters of both twins. The only thing I didn't really like was that both characters got really overpowered very quickly. They finally added skill trees in this one but I think you had them maxed before you were even 3/4 of the way through the main story if I remember correctly. Travel through the city was pretty quick as well with the grappling hook and trains. Some new things to do as well like underground fight clubs and carriage racing that were fun. Even the DLC was fun.
Unity is probably one you could skip. The story was kind of meh even for an Assassin's Creed game. Arno is kind of a dull character. He just doesn't stand out like some of the other protaganists in the series do. The only thing really going for it in my opinion is the setting, but if you aren't interested in running around French Revolution era Paris there isn't much else going for this game.
I haven't played Rouge or Origins so I can't comment on either one of those games.
I enjoyed origins a lot especially both DLC . Sure it’s tedious but what assassin creed game isn’t ? Hunting was better than in 3 . The large scope of the world was really nice and enjoyed the different aspects of the desert regions plus sand storms. Story was really rich with the Egyptian mythology and being the first assassin and forming the creed was nice to see. The ship missions were to me the lamest part since it was so clunky. Hoping the odyssey one hd the same people from black flag since Your Home base is again the ship and clearly being in Mediterranean there’s gonna be a lot of water travel

Thanks for the recommendations, guys! I'll be sure not to skip black flag.
Rogue honestly should have been an expansion to Black Flag. It plays almost exactly the same but instead of sailing the Caribbean, you sail the North Atlantic. And your play a Templar instead of an Assassin, which is kind of a fun narrative twist.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced at GamesCom that there will not be a new AC title released in 2019. He said that Origins and Odyssey were being developed simultaneously and feedback from fans on Origins helped shaped future development for Odyssey. He stresses Ubisoft plans to release content for Odyssey on a regular basis for the next two years. He says the decision to stop the AC yearly release cycle to reinvent the series with Origins was risky but ultimately believes it was worth it.
