PUP vs. Diabolos Prime SOLO Win

A LS mate of mine successfully defeated Diabolos Prime as PUP. Here's his post from our LS site complete with screenshots (for you POIDH hoes) and strategy.

    Siyual from MonstersInc Linkshell wrote:

Just got the win on this fight as PUP/SCH solo. It was a very tricky fight to get the hang of, but it turned out to be fairly easy.

The fight was done entirely on the ledge, and never actually moving down.

The puppet needed to be equipped in a way that you can freely move between BLM RDM and WHM. Here's the attachments I used for this fight:

*** Note: You need Scanner for this fight. Otherwise they will cast Aspir after 2 nukes. ***

And my equipment is listed here:

Dia II is very helpful above 50% to stop it from regening, though it may not even be needed, since I was keeping up with his idle regen with normal nukes.

From 100% to 0% it took roughly 5 minutes, or less. Though the clear time is 12:34, I had to restart the fight a few times while I found a working strategy.

Here's some pics from the fight:

One of my LS mates has been doing this, I'll forward him over to this thread.

Why do you mention that the puppet would aspir after 2 nukes ? I'm assuming you are using the nuke > deactivate trick, so the puppet would come back with a full MP pool. Nice to see that 3x ice man is enough to counter the 10%/tick regen.

Yes, Siyual was using the Nuke > Deactivate > Activate > Nuke trick.

I've done this twice (I'm the LS member Isladar mentioned), the first time I had some help from a friend who went RDM/PUP with Stormwaker. All he did was put Stormwaker on Deploy and let him cast whatever he wanted, to keep Diabolos from regening HP.

The second time I did it by myself. I used Loudspeaker, Mana Booster, Scanner, Tranquilizer, Mana Conserver, Condensor, and one or two Mana Tanks.

Instead of doing the traditional ADD where you go for a few huge nukes with Ice Maker I simply got my puppet up, put up a Water Maneuver and then 3 Ice Maneuvers and let my puppet spam spells. When he ran out of MP I would ADD to refresh MP and let him cast again. My spells didn't do as much damage as they could've (since I wasn't using Ice Maker), but the point was to make this as easy as possible. I didn't mess with Dia II or Bio or anything, just let him cast spells as fast as Mana Booster let him.

This method was a little slow, took me 16 minutes, because he regens about 2 nukes of HP per every 3 times I nuked him. But it works, and eventually I whittled him down.

I don't understand how this works?

Unless the strategy is explained in the pics, but it's blocked from where I am viewing it from (work).

I'm aware that when you deactivate your automaton the mob will deaggro if you do not do anything to it. But however, from when I did Diabolos, doesn't he draw you in upon any action taken on it? Also, I know if you deactivate while the automaton is hurt, the timer for Activate won't reset... but people are saying they are nuking 2-3 times before deactivating, wouldn't a pissed off Diabolos be coming after the automaton?

Thanks. This has perked my interest up in the job

For some reason (likely due to the fact that automatons often don't claim mobs when they hit with spells or ranged attacks) if you stand at the top of the arena and have your puppet nuke Diabolos will never draw in, never attack, never even move.

Diabolos sits there and lets you kill him.

Its clearly a glitch, and will likely be fixed. I'm hesitant to continue doing it knowing how SE sometimes chooses to handle people who take advantage of glitches...

Nice work! For some reason I thought you'd get pulled down if you aggroed him...

The 3x Ice Manuever thing was something I was wondering... how do you keep it up usually? I am aware the INT+ over Automaton's INT would decrease Overload in a sense (as well as gloves+neck for the burden threshold) and Condenser preventing Overload (I usually do ice 2x and water 1x because of this).

Also, just being above INT of Automaton matter over being over it an incredible amount is better? Like 70 vs 71 to 70 vs 90.

Great job though again didn't think this was possible but again the PUP community impresses me again XD Wish we had better PUPs on Hades outside of just two of us...

I think Siyual mentioned that when he has the Scanner attachment equipped, it would only cast nukes and not use Aspir. He did that once Diabolos was under 50%.

I'll confirm with Siyual today (we're in the same dynamis shell too) and get some answers for you.

Oh, (sorry, I look forward to viewing the pics when I get home) so you mean it can happily sit there and nuke a few times and then you simply deactivate, pull it back out and continue?

This reminds me of a few weeks back I was heading the Dea spot in the thickets, on the way you usually pass where all the marids are. While waiting on people I stood there and watched a PUP mad soloing marids, he was subbing SCH. I know marids have little to no resistant to magic but what I think I saw was this guy was sleep/automaton nuking these marids, and killing really fast, I'd say he's getting chain 4-5 no problem.

I don't think I saw him ever put away his automaton via deactivating, but the way I saw it was the nukes came continously with a slight break after the master sleeps the marid. Each T4 nuke was doing 1000~ unresisted and 500~ with some degree of resist, which brings me back to the point, were you doing something similar?

I also lack a good PUP guide that can explain how this stuff can be achieved (the seemingly infinite MP nuking thing, although I guess there's some "Convert" action going on here, but I didn't notice the automaton HP dropping).

Ah ok I understand better now lol. I thought you would just nuke > deactivate every 1 minute and I was wondering how you could counter the 10%/tick regen in one minute with a nuke. It's probably a bug where a pet can't get drawn-in when you "fake aggro" like this. I wonder if the trick works with the ranger puppet too because ADD works with him too.

Yes, when you Deactivate > Activate, the puppet is back to 100% MP and ready to nuke again. It's like Convert but you're getting both 100% HP and MP. However, the trick doesn't work if your puppet has taken any damage, then you'd have to wait for the 20:00 activate timer, which sucks balls.

Yes, the hardest part of this fight is overcoming his regen, not actually surviving. However if your automaton ever actually melees Diabolos, he gets hate and Diabolos draws in. :[ My friend helping me screwed me over once by trying Harlequin Head/Stormwaker body to try and help me, but Harlequin head forces the puppet into melee range. He aggro'd it and we got drawn in.

Ah this makes sense then. Pull automaton out, nuke until empty, although I understand there's a gap inbetween it being able to cast the next nuke. Deactivate, Activate, repeat, while trying to overcome his regen.

The PUP I watched doing the marids, he would set the automaton onto the marid where it will cast, and before it finishes casting he "heels" it back (I don't know the PUP commands!!, I forgotten them) and the nuke will go off.

I guess that is what is being done?

Next question is the what I assume to be how the "infinite mp" is achieved without deactivating? I really don't recall the PUP ever deactivating the automaton when it was against the marid, unless I wasn't looking at the times he did. How many T4 nukes can an automaton dish out before running out of MP? I think 4-5 can kill one of those marids.

Also, any indepth guides I can be pointed to? As mentioned i haven't come across any aside from "basics". It'll be a good read during "downtime" tonight.

LOL, actually sounds like a pretty good plan. Solo Diabolos, impress the hell out of your client, help eliminate the "lolPUP" mentality all while making yourself some gilz. WIN in my book.
