    What book do you read?

Finished Da Vinci Code a few days ago, starting Angels & Demons and it's pretty nice, going for The Bournes Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum next, and a friend told me The Celestine Prophecy was a good book.

Just curious, what book do you read at this moment? (no manga, etc.)

But no, I read this series of books called The Left Behind series. They are based on religion/the bible, but the storytelling and character development is top notch.
Its about the end of the world, and it's a series of 12 books, check it out.

Any David Gemmel is awesome. The Drenai series were my favorite, Druss is incredible but Waylander the Slayer is by far my favorite character. Having truly mortal characters that actually DIED to put real suspense into his books were something D&D books never really could get. I'm looking at you Mr. Drizzt's the god damn near immortal.

A Song of Fire and Ice are also must reads by George R.R. Martin. He brings a harsher element into his books, putting magic on the backburner to make it actually seem special.

Outside of the sword and sorcery style books, I am also an avid reader of Neil Gaimen. Some of you comic fans probably know him from the Sandman comics.

Basically if all you have read are TSR D&D books, you should try some other authors. I think you'll be pleasently surprised.

p.s. The Wheel of Time and Robert Jordan can burn in a fire

I read all the damn time. Goddamn English Lit course...makes it hard to read casually.

Last few books I enjoyed were Starship Troopers and Heart of Darkness though.

When I read books I tend to lean toward more of a scholastic line of reading...

Reading The End of Poverty by Jeffrey Sachs right now (prominent economist).

Last month I finished reading Cicero's On Obligations, Dante's Monarchy, and Machiavelli's Discourses on Livy.

My favorite books of all time are The Prince, and Luo Guang-Zhong's Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

I've only read the original Dune. I keep hearing pretty harsh things about the books following the original. I'll have to pick them up sometime just out of curiosity.
