Willow (D+) - TV Series Set After The Original Film - 2022

Willow, coming to Disney+, will be set decades after Ron Howard’s 1988 movie, continuing the spirit of adventure, heroics, and humor of the original film. Warwick Davis will return in the role of the great sorcerer, Willow Ufgood, with Jon Chu (director of the groundbreaking Crazy Rich Asians) directing the pilot. Willow begins shooting next March in Wales and will debut on Disney+ in 2022.

Disney Plus is getting harder and harder to avoid subscribing to, even though I really don't need yet another streaming service.

Glad to see Joanne Whalley back for this, 13-year old me had a pretty serious crush on her. I know that Vil Kilmer is very limited in what he can do now, but I hope they figure out a way to get him back in some sort of cameo, at least.

EDIT: I looked up Val Kilmer's voice issues. From here:

Scientists helped Kilmer reprise his role as Iceman by using A.I. to craft a computer-generated replica of the actor’s voice that could read his lines.

Kilmer—who has starred in films including Batman Forever, The Doors, and Heat—suffered irreparable damage to his voice after being diagnosed with throat cancer and undergoing a tracheotomy in 2014.

He later compared acting after the procedure to learning a new language in an interview with Good Morning America.

In August last year, London-based tech startup Sonantic teamed up with Kilmer to create an A.I.-powered voice for the actor—which ultimately went on to be used in Top Gun: Maverick.

I gave up after first episode, lol. My partner is still watching this so I sometimes hear it in the background and it just confirms my decision. He also says he's only hate-watching it because of nostalgia.

I thought it very simplistic, even though it had some adult themes (gay, swearing, death etc) it felt like a U rated series.

I won’t be back if they do any other seasons.

At least the major plot of the season was solved and didn't end on a cliffhanger. Kind of a shame though as it seemed like the show just needed a bit more polish.
