Don't quote me on this but I don't believe the regens stack. Its more for solo'ing and such. Formless will really shine if you do things like limbus or Nyzul isle where you'll get blunt resistant mobs. You'll want that at least level 1. Mantra is pretty much only good for MPK'ing via blood aggro.

Invigorate doesn't stack, Regen 1 will overwrite invigorate. I merited it because I solo a lot. Penanace is great, for obvious reasons. I have formless solely for mobs that invincible in Dynamis. Its probably not worth it, but considering thats about all I do on my Monk (solo and Dynamis, with some Salvage here and there), its handy.

Max penance and if you have extra merits around, throw them in Invigorate, thats about all that matters.

A full time monk though, would probably want to have at least one lv of formless. I can see wher eyou're coming from if you only do Dyna on mnk, but if you do everything as monk, its a useful tool to have.

Personally 5 Invigorate, 4 Penance appeals more. Can still "lock" a mob with the tp nerf but have more healing when solo or mages are busy (regen being a low priority on a boss fight when it gets rough).

5 Invig, 4 Penance, 1 Formless here.

Free 400 HP is too nice to pass up.

1:20 on Penance is plenty if you have 2 monks, that means only 10 seconds without TP nerf in between uses, not that bad.

Formless really shines on blunt resistant mobs, elementals, and Proto Omega in 4 legged stance. As well as various other situations, but those are the big 3.

The real problem here is that it doesn't stack with Drain II, then again if you max it out (20% soon) and a drk manages to get 2k HP in gear, it gives you 400 hp boost what's usually moar than a Drain2. Like 100 hp.... so not worth it prolly. Kinda good if you go MNK/DRK for zergs and got a nice hp set up. That's about it tho... I personally made the mistake doing mantra ups x3 since I just did not know how good Penance was back then. I still got em 2, occasionally using in salvage, ballista and for hate purposes... I wouldn't recommend meriting them tho x.x;

enmity_modifier * 60 VE * number of players hit. With a full party in range, it's like using boost.

I'm 3 Penance/3 Invig... Formless seems extremely useless to me.

I was gonna make a thread but might as well ask here. Is Counter rate the preferred 2nd Group 1 merit? (since 5/5 kicks is obvious)? I have Kicks capped already, but I'm sort of torn for my second upgrade. Counter seemed obvious at first, but then I figured Chakra recast would be nice sometimes, etc. What do the pro MNKs here pick?

If it matters I have 1 Formless, 2/3 Invig, 3/3penance-- I plan on going 1 form, 4/5 invig, 5/5 pen after update.

Usually people like to use their JAs at the same time but I don't care bout that... the longer focus the better x.x

5 Penance, whatever.

Formless is cool for Mouses and Puddings and shit. Really hot for Nyzul floors with those mobs and Salvage with those mobs. Invigorate overwrites Regen and Regen overwrites Invigorate so unless I am solo it always got messed up, so I took it out. Mantra is cool for hate and some extra MP but nothing great. Penance owns.

I had 1 in Mantra for about a year before losing the points and putting new ones into Penance. The most useful thing I found for Mantra was to do it just before my RDM wife converted so her max HP could get closer to her max MP, but that got boring.

Invigorate will be getting 5/5 from me. Kinda tempted to put another into Formless strikes to see how much the difference makes, and if its not really noticable then losing those points and upping Penance.
