PS3 Browser

Is there anyway to make the PS3 browser not suck i want to use it for facebook and other browsing stuff (not porn lol) but yeah is this a possibility itll load the page but shit is cluttered and alot of buttons dont work. EDIT: by the way it works great for this site lol.

Is there a way to make it not suck -- not really, its ability to integrate flash and java objects is remarkably limited.

As for certain things like facebook, next firmware update is set to bring facebook integration much like Microsoft is bringing to the 360.

Only in Home, not for the main system.

I really think the browser is one of the weak spots on the PS3. Its salvageable, but it seems with the power the system has, it could jump through some more hoops than what it does.

The firefox news is promising for sure.

A quick question, and idk why I haven't thought about it sooner. But will a mouse work within the browser?

Mouse works within browser, same for XMB.

At any rate, I don't see them touching the browser much due to some games using the feature that allows them to implement it within the game. If they do any major overhauls, they're either going to have to waste more disk space to keep the old browser in for backwards compatibility purposes, or have it broken in games when they bring in the new one.

Not really, unless the game is using some kind of API hook to send commands directly to the browser without any user interaction they can just launch a shell interface that loads the firefox engine. Same end result.

Yeah I dunno, I don't buy too many games that are so boring that I need to browse the web while playing. I can see the merit for browsing gfaq guides and shit, but eh I'd rather have Firefox than in-game browser compatibility.
