PS3 letterboxing PS2 games

This is for the PS3 people and was wondering if there was anything I could try. I just purchased an 80 gig PS3 and installed FFXI. That went perfect.. cept the 19000 files to install lol...


My question is when playing FFXI the PS3 squeezes it into this letterbox thing that is about 75% smaller than my screen. Is there anyway to fix this? Or am I missing something?

You might want to check the settings on your PS3. I've got the 60 GB version before they got rid of the emotions engine, so I don't know if the newer 80 GB versions treat the PS2 titles differently. That being said, I remember a setting somewhere as to how to handle PS2 titles. I believe a few of my older titles (Jak & Daxter, w00t) still get letterboxed for one reason or another, but thats usually solved by using Overscan. I'll see when I get home in about an hour what I can figure out, because I had a similar issue with a few games.

tl;dr - try checking your settings, I think it's in the system options.
