So I got some new parts from newegg today. Nothing fancy, see last page or so in build thread. MOBO/CPU/ram/SSD.
Set everything up and went to install Win7 from a USB ISO. It says it doesn’t have the drivers. Try the initial setup “recovery” mode where it looks for files to install, obviously nothing.
I go back and forth on this for about an hour before I do a FULL (and tedious) format and repartitioning of my usb drive. Load Win7 ISO back up, new error trying to boot from USB. BOOTMGR failure or some such. I now also no longer have access to the “recovery” boot. If I try to boot not from the USB I get errors telling me that I have to use an installation disc and all options it gives me automatically restarts my PC.
I flash Win8.1, same thing, still cant make any progress.
I walk my ass to CVS at 3am to buy DVD-Rs and burn Win7 and Win8.1. BIOS won’t even give me the option to boot from CD/DVD. Now it just boots straight to “Use your recovery cd or contact your manufacturer.” Where any action forces a restart.
I dicked around a bit reseating the CPU and RAM as well as a few CMOS resets, fucking nothing.
I’m in the process of doing another hard wipe of my usb stick so I can put the memtest ISO on it but that will probably go nowhere.
Help me BG! What the fuck is going on. I now have zero ability to use that computer unless I drop my old MOBO in which now wont be properly cooled because I removed the fan and am out of thermal paste. This sucks.
