    FFRK - Like Father, Like Daughter (IV) Event & Strategies



    "Lure the enemies here...then smash them!" - Yang
    "We can take back the crystal!" - Ursula

    Princess Ursula - the daughter of Yang and Sheila as well as Cecil and Rosa's goddaughter.

    As Yang's daughter, she is the princess of the Kingdom of Fabul. Ursula wants to be strong like her father, but he refuses to teach her.

    Her determination to have her father's strength is so strong she travels up Mt. Hobs alone to train in secret.

    Through her journey, she learns what Yang has tried to teach her: that someone with the strength of heart needed to protect friends and family is stronger than someone with physical strength alone.

    Though the information provided is used as a guideline and not always taken directly from the thread. When necessary, additional thoughts on Cid Missions and battle strategies are added.

    Notable Rewards:
    Ogopogo - 5* Summon. Deal 1-3 summon magic water attacks to all targets. (Same scale as Tiamat)

    Gaia Crush - 5* Monk. Earth flavor of the fire element Crush we received 2 events ago.

    Ursula's Corsage - Accessory. Moderate wind and petrify resist.

    FINALLY another Petrify accessory.

    • Rydia "Beloved by Eidolons" - Medium chance to doublecast Summon abilities.

    • Golbez "Master of the Four Fiends" - Small dark damage up.
    • Golbez "Majestic Magus" - Start battle with Sentinel and Guts.

    Ursula: Monk +9%

    Note that Ursula also receives a full Legend Dive with this event as well.

    Cid Missions
    • Complete 'Fabul Castle, Crystal Chamber (Classic)' with only Ursula.
    • Complete 'Mt. Hobbs - Test (Elite)' with a party of FF4 characters, including Yang and Ursula.
    • Complete 'Explosive Hazard 凶+' with a party of only FF7 heroes.


    Relics
    This is also the last FFIV event so far in JP, with no sign of another one soon. Half of the FF4 cast shows up here, as opposed to previous events which really focus on 2-3 characters. FF4 has a big cast though, so it does dilute the banners a little bit.

    This event is also very earth element heavy, so if you haven't had the tools to tackle Hydra magicite yet this could be an in.

    But thank god Tellah gets a burst, amirite?

    Banner 1:

    If you're here pulling for Knight stuff, wait for Tactics in a few weeks. Ceodore USB is nice, and honestly a bit of an improvement over his father's offering. 10 hits of holy/lightning damage with an Atk/Res buff, en-holy, and Sentinel. The sword's +holy boost isn't RS locked either. In fact, Rydia's OSB staff is the only RS element boost on either banner.

    Ceodore's BSB is also on Banner 1.

    Kain gets his element flavor of Cid VII's USB from the previous event. 10x lightning/non jump attacks with Atk/Def boosts, en-lightning, and nocharge Jump attacks for 15 seconds, including USB re-entry. His OSB and slightly aged BSB also return.

    Tellah's gonna Burst like its 2016. Or 2017. Or Potato. Yes, his BSB entry is essentially Papalymao's "Leylines" SSB. His commands offer Black Magic earth/non damage, with Cmd1's multiplier 4x hits at 235/265/300 potency with X/650/1200 magic respectively while Cmd2 is a Mag/Def bargain with 2x AoE damage. His party Atk/Mag SSB has a last gasp here as well.

    Spoony's BSB and Faithga SSB round out the banner.

    Banner 2:

    Rydia adds the water element to her summon repertoire, bringing a USB with 10x water/non ST damage with en-water and party Mag/Res boost. Her OSB and BSB2 pop back here as well.

    Golbez brings a unique mage axe for his USB. 10x Black Magic dark/non damage with party Mag/Def boosts and a 6k HP Stock. His mage tank BSB returns for good measure.

    Ursula's BSB is an 8x earth/fire ST hits on entry with en-earth. Her commands share Monk + earth/non damage, with Cmd1 bringing 4x ST hits and Cmd2 pairs 2 slightly stronger hits with a 50% Crit Fix. Her SSB is a party 40% medica with Last Stand and a 100% Res boost.

    Yang rounds out the banner with his BSB and his imperil-earth AoE SSB.

    Legend Materias:
    • Banner 1 - Ceodore: 30% chance to "Cover" with a 20% damage reduction.
    • Banner 1 - Tellah: Buff duration +30%.
    • Banner 1 - Kain: 25% damage boost to Dragoon abilities when using a spear.

    • Banner 2 - Rydia: 35% chance to gain 'shortcharge 1' when using a Summon ability.
    • Banner 2 - Ursula: Moderate chance to doublecast Monk abilities.
    • Banner 2 - Golbez: Begin battle with en-dark.

    • Reduce Kraken's magic.
    • Exploit Kraken's weakness to lightning attacks.

    Notes: Kraken can paralyze you, but all of his important damaging attacks are ice element and magical, so mitigate accordingly.

    Wind Chaos +++

    • Reduce Tiamat's attack.
    • Reduce Tiamat's defense.
    • Do not use Black Magic attacks against Tiamat.

    Notes: Be mindful of the 3rd medal condition, luckily there isn't an elemental weakness to encourage you to bring an offensive caster.

    His main damage attack can be mitigated through KO resist though. His only damage aside from that is physical.

    Notes and Strategies: Only one token physical hit, and it isn't even ranged. Focus on magic mitigation. Fire resist is also the order of the day, because both Huge Explosion and Explosion ignore Res and the other magical attacks are fire as well.

    Mom Bomb enters Huge mode when at 90% HP. Before Mom Bomb's 7th turn, when she uses Elixir, you need to deal enough damage to bring her to 40% HP and force Huge Explosion. This amounts to ~200,000 damage in those 7 turns.

    Huge Exploison and the AoE Firagas are front row only, so try and pack as many back row characters you can.

    You have 5 turns to defeat the bombs/grenades, or face Explode. When they are defeated, they will instead use 凶 Explode, so try and space them out to allow you healing between bursts.

    Cid Mission: Lot of people on 4's cast that can pump out ice and water damage.

    You will want to bring some AoE breakdowns, because the bombs/grenades aren't weak enough where you can't worry about it.

    Golbez can use Draw Magic to bring the heat off your lower level synergy characters.

    Otherwise, just be mindful of the HP thresholds in both phases and keep your health up. 2 healers can help a lot if you don't have medicas.

    Magical Whirlwind (Apoc + and Jumpstart)

    • Reduce Barbariccia's attack.
    • Reduce Barbariccia's magic.
    • Remove Barbaricca's Tornado form using a Jump attack.

    Notes: Can't really ignore either magical or physical here, so bring both forms of mitigation. May also want to consider Affliction Break, as Stop and Petrify proc can murder you and you'll probably be wanting to wear wind or lightning resist gear as is, especially if you're not bringing wall.

    Haste can be ignored, because her speed is already so high.

    Back row characters can avoid Ultimate Tornado, but they will have to deal with Ultimate Maelstrom instead - hence the Affliction Break. In other words: bring your Dragoons.

    If you don't bring wind and lightning resist, do bring KO resist for dealing with regular Maelstrom.

    Jump Start Notes: No changes from the previous fight.

    During 3rd anniversary, Dena mentioned a TAY Porom/Palom event was in the works and they were going to move up its event date due to how popular FF4 is in JP. So we should hopefully see our next 4 event in 7 months.

    Forgot fire resist for the bomb fight. Hate that they fucking explode even when you kill them one at a time....

    I got the barbaricca extra dialogue. Had to bring 3 star jumps to get enough jumps in.

    Easy battle regardless though.
    Except the first time, she never entered her tornado mode and I lost three starts - was only a 1 stamina dungeon so no biggie, just redid it.

    Hit her with 10 jump attacks before she hits 20% and she'll tornado herself to 1 HP.

    Fucking hell having trouble going back and re-doing the Rubicante jump start. It's what every 4 turns he cloaks? I can't seem to do enough rapid fire damage to get around his curaga's along with the constant debuffing every 4th turn.

    Are there any rules for getting Barbaricca into tornado form? Tried zerging js but ended up dying before entering tornado which ended up costing mastery.
