FFRK - Trapped by the Past (Tactics) Event & Strategies

    Spoiler: show
Best girl, of course, is never neglected.

    Spoiler: show

    Oh, Alma is here too.

"To live in an age so wondrous is a blessing - but to live in Ivalice, even more one." - Alma

Like her brother, Ramza, Alma is headstrong, cheerful, and bright, willing to risk her life in battle for his sake. Alma readily befriends people across the class boundaries, being friends with Delita Heiral's sister Tietra. She is an acquaintance of Princess Ovelia Atkascha from their time at Orbonne Monastery under Simon Penn-Lachish's tutelage.

Her bystander status as Ramza and Delita are active in the High-Priests' plot comes to a head at Orbonne Monestary while searching for the Virgo auracite. Wiegraf and Isilud successfully kidnap the young Beoulve and escape into the protection of the church.

Though she is not held captive there long, as the ensuing events at Riovanes Castle end with Belias defeated, Hashmal going on a rampage, and Folmarv noticing that Virgo reacts to Alma's presence, signalling him to her potential as a vessel for Ultima's return. She is knocked unconscious and taken away by Folmarv.

    Event Start Date: February 15
    Event Bonus Battle: February 18
    Event End Date: February 25

All information is taken from a mixture of Reddit/Spreadsheets/Kongpakbao Site and my own obviously expert analysis.

Much info for the event comes from this site: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKee...dh&sh=c630f92e

Though the information provided is used as a guideline and not always taken directly from the thread. When necessary, additional thoughts on Cid Missions and battle strategies are added.

    Notable Rewards:
Red Shoes: Accessory. Mag +15 and moderate holy elemental resist.

Assault Saber: Knight 5*. 5x ST Holy physical damage, self medium Def down.

    New Characters Acquired:
Alma: Black Magic 4, White Magic 5, Bard 3, Summoner 5 (Oh, DeNa).

    Dress Spheres Acquired:
    Mustadio...why is your nose bleeding?

    Old Characters Acquired:
    Mustadio
    T.G. Cid
    Meliadoul

    New Memory Crystals:
    Alma MC1/MC2

    Old Memory Crystals
    Mustadio MC1/MC2
    T.G. Cid MC1/MC2
    Meliadoul MC1/MC2

    New Record Materia:
    • Alma RM1: Restore slightly more HP with White Magic abilities.
    • Alma RM2: Small chance to double cast White Magic abilities.
    • Alma RM3: Increase Def and Mnd a small amount when equipping a stave.

    New Record Sphere
Alma: White Magic +9%, Summon +6%, minor Silence resist.

    New Legend Materia
    • Orlandeau "Unbeaten Knight" - Small physical damage up.
    • Orlandeau "Sword Saint Knight" - Start battle with infinite Haste* and Instant Cast 3.
    • Alma "Cheerful Sister" - Small White Magic healing up.
    • Alma "Saint's Reincarnation" - Medium chance to double cast White Magic.
    • Mustadio "Machina Expertise" - Small Machinist damage up.
    • Mustadio "Discoveries of Lost Civilizations" - Medium chance to double cast Machinist abilities.
    • Meliadoul "Divine Knight Blademaster" - Small Knight damage up.
    • Meliadoul "Divine Knight's Finesse" - Medium chance to minor Imperil Earth when using Knight abilities.

In addition to receiving an ability buff (Darkness 4*->5*), Cid gets maybe one of the most broken RMs. His haste status can only expire through Dispel and Slow. It will last the duration of the battle otherwise and will not be overwritten by other Haste sources.

    Cid Missions
    • Beat 'Lesalia Castle, Back Gate (Classic)' with a party which must include Alma.
    • Beat '凶++ At the End of Ideals' with a party consisting of only FFT synergy characters.

    Relics

Cid learns to 360 no scope.

Most of the important stuff from Tactics' last banner returns, but you're not pulling for best girl here. (Hint: Agrias...but you should.) You're pulling for the meanest Southern Sky general to ever live - including Balbanes.

Very little is new here, but Alma also has a few goodies and kinda outshines Ovelia as a healer. Also to note, this should be the start of updating banner formats, limiting it to 1 SSB entry with 4 LMR's - but DeNa has been shifting events around recently and we don't know how the Kingdom Hearts event will shake out.

Also, none of the +element items here are RS locked.

    Banner 1:

Let's start off with the best and then deal with the rest.

    Sword Saint.
    12 Holy/Dark hits.
Crit Fix 100% (including the USB use itself).
Sword Saint EX Mode: Wreck shit. Self 50% Atk Boost (which I believe may be its own buff ID), and Ability Double Knight/Darkness uses - burning 2 hones.

In less broken banner items, Cid's OSB and BSB come back.

Alma gets her namesake Aegis/MBarrier ability in the form of her USB. Note that the stave is also Holy+. Entry is a potent mix of Pro/Shell/Haste/High Regen/Reraise/Astra.

Her BSB entry is a Curaga entry with Magic Blink for the party, packing the usual Instant Curaga/Medica on her C1 and C2 entries. Her SSB is an HP Stock of 3k and the games first bar-holy.

Everything else has been seen before, with Marche's USB, Ramza Loudside 2, and Gaff Gaffgarion's BSB.

    Banner 2:

Much of B2 here was B1 last FFT event - so this is no slouch of a banner for best and 2nd best girl options.

Also, Legendary Bunansa Accuracy returns with a vengeance! Musty's USB entry is 10x random fire/non ranged hits with imperil fire and a Machinist Speed Cycle. His reverse wall BSB returns here as well.

Meliadoul's USB entry is actually very utilitarian, providing a uniqie Mag/Def/Res -50% paired with 10x random earth/holy hits and imperil earth. Her BSB returns here too.

Best Girl has her all-in-one reverse wall, en-holy, knight boost and damage USB and BSB return while Montblanc is saying "I'm here, guys!" with his BSB. Ramza joins the game here with his SSB Chant.

    Legend Materias:
    • Banner 1 - T.G. Cid: Slight chance to doublecast Knight and Darkness abilities.
    • Banner 1 - Alma: 25% to add Magic Blink when healing with White Magic abilities.
    • Banner 1 - Ramza: Begin battle with 1x CT0 and a full ATB bar.
    • Banner 1 - Marche: Deal slightly more damage with Knight abilities when a sword is equipped.

    • Banner 2 - Meliadoul: Deal slightly more damage with Knight abilities when a sword is equipped.
    • Banner 2 - Mustadio: 35% chance to double cast speed when using Machinist abilities.
    • Banner 2 - Montblanc: 35% chance to double cast speed when using Black Magic abilities.
    • Banner 2 - Agrias: Slight chance to doublecast Knight abilities.

    Bonus Battles
    Encounter with the Corpse Brigade
    Thieves & Squires
    HP: 25,000 each
    Target Score:
    • Defeat the boss without being KO'ed.

    Weak: None
    Absorb: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Status Vulnerabilities: Slow, Stun

    Wiegraf (w/Knight, Monk, Chocobo)
    HP: Wiegraf: 80,000 - Others: 26,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Wiegraf with at least 3 characters alive.

    Weak: None
    Absorb: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Status Vulnerabilities: Slow, Stun

Notes: Everything here is physical. The thieves in round 1 can confuse, so consider that.

Otherwise, nothing too dangerous. The choco's heals aren't too strong.

Wielder of the Unyielding Blade ++
    Meliadoul (w/Archer, Summoner)
    HP: Meliadoul: 1260,000 - Archer/Summoner: 36,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Meliadoul without being KO'ed.

    Weak: None
    Absorb: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Status Vulnerabilities: Slow, Stun

Notes: Pretty straightforward fight. Meliadoul initially spawns with 1 of each minion and only Meliadoul needs to be defeated for the win.

The summoner has the usual Fire/Ice/Lightning AoE magic attacks, so consider at least a Magic Break.

    Dark Knight +++
Gaff Gaffgarion (w/ Knight, Time Mage)
    HP: Gaffgarion: 140,000 - Knight/Time Mage: 40,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat Gaffgarion without being KO'ed.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resists: None
    Null: None
Vulnerabilities: Gaff: Poison, Slow, Stun - Knight/TM: Poison, Silence, Paralyze, Slow, Stop, Stun

Notes: 100% physical damage with 1 NAT attack in Power Break. Only Gaffgarion needs to be defeated to win the fight.

Gaffgarion will shift between front and back rows.

    Ultimate + Apocalypse Battles
    Temple Knights Raid
    凶Isilud (w/Knight, Summoner, Archer)
    HP: Isilud: 170,000 - Knight: 65,000 - Summoner: 53,600 - Archer: 53/600
    Target Score:
    • Reduce Isilud's attack.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resists: None
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: Slow, Stun

Notes: Defeating the Knight causes another Knight to spawn, but defeating the Summoner will spawn an Archer. Only Isilud needs to be defeated to win.

Isilud can put out some damage with his Jump attacks, but most of the AI is pretty scripted otherwise. The fight is 100% physical if you eliminate the Summoner, but even keeping it in means you can likely neglect magic mitigation - they aren't too strong.

    At the End of Ideals
    凶Wiegraf (w/Knight, Monk, Chocobo)
    HP: Wiegraf: 260,000 - Knight: 70,000 - Monk: 90,000 - Chocobo: 75,000
    Target Score:
    • Afflict an enemy with Stun.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: Stun

    Moveset (Wiegraf):

    Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
Judgment Blade (NAT: ST 275% ranged physical, 48% chance to Stop)
Northswain's Strike (NAT: ST 337% ranged physical)
Cleansing Strike (NAT: ST 212% ranged physical, 18% chance to Doom)
Counter Attack (20% response to physical attacks; ST 266% physical)

(Weak/V Weak only) Ultimate Judgment Blade (NAT: AOE 127% ranged physical, 21% chance to Stop)

    Moveset (Knight):

    Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
Armor Break (NAT: ST reduce defense by 30% for 20 seconds)
    Potion (NAT: ST recover HP)
Ultimate Shield Break (NAT: ST 266% physical, remove Protect and Shell)

    Moveset (Monks):

    Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
Aurablast (NAT: ST 266% ranged physical)
    Tackle (NAT: ST 266% physical)
Shockwave (NAT: ST 212% ranged physical earth)
Chakra (NAT: AOE recover HP, Regen)
Counter Attack (15% response to physical attacks; PHY: ST 266% physical)

    Moveset (Chocobo):

Choco Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
Choco Cure (WHT: ST recover HP)
    Haste (WHT: ST Haste)
Choco Attack (PHY: ST 344% physical)
Counter Attack (15% response to physical attacks; PHY: ST 188% physical)

Notes: All physical. Leave MBD and Shellga at home.

Wiegraf will use Judgement Blade every 5 turns regardless of phase, so stop resist accessories or Affliction Break is suggested.

You only need to defeat Wiegraf to win. Killing the Knight will spawn a Chocobo, and the Monk will spawn another Monk. Wiegraf and the Monk can both counter ~25% of attacks in weaker phases, so you may want to stockpile a SB charge to deal with their tail end phases.

Cid Mission: Rapha is a strong option here, having access to the 4* dances for debuffs. Otherwise, the fight isn't anything special.

Those Who Aim For Revolution (Apoc +)
滅Milleuda (w/Knight, Time Mage, Black Mage)
    HP: Milleuda: 380,000 - Knight: 115,000 - Time Mage: 100,000 - Black Mage: 90,000
    Target Score:
    • Reduce Milleuda's attack.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: None

    Moveset (Milleuda):

    Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
Ultimate Armor Break (NAT: ST 344% physical, reduce defense by 30% for 20 seconds)
Ultimate Weapon Break (NAT: ST 344% physical, reduce attack by 30% for 20 seconds)
    Attack (PHY: AOE 253% physical)
    Attack (PHY: ST 344% physical)
Counter Attack (15|20|30% response to physical attacks; PHY: ST 266% physical)

(Weak/V Weak) Ultimate Weapon Break (NAT: AOE 240% physical, reduce attack by 30% for 20 seconds)

    Moveset (Black Mages):

Thundaga (NAT: ST 170% magical thunder)
Thundaga (NAT: ST 490% magical thunder)
Blizzaga (NAT: ST 490% magical ice)
Firaga (NAT: ST 490% magical fire)
Firaga (BLK: AOE 278% magical fire)
Blizzaga (NAT: AOE 390% magical ice)

    Moveset (Knight):

    Attack (PHY: ST 110% physical)
Armor Break (NAT: AOE reduce defense by 30% for 20 seconds)
Ultimate Armor Break (NAT: ST 344% physical, reduce defense by 30% for 20 seconds)
Throw Stone (NAT: AOE 240% piercing0.5 ranged physical)
    Attack (PHY: ST 344% physical)
Counter Attack (15% response to physical attacks; PHY: ST 266% physical)

    Moveset (Time Mage):

    Haste (WHT: AOE Haste)
Slow (WHT: ST 63% chance to Slow)
Stop (BLK: AOE 36% chance to Stop)

Notes: Mixed bag here with the Black Mage present, as defeating the first one will only spawn another. Defeating the Knight will spawn a Time Mage - which presents its own difficulties with Slow and Stop issues.

It's worth noting that Milleuda can stop all Loudside activations with her Ultimate Weapon Break on the 1st turn of a phase shift and every 5 turns afterwards. Consider either a magic party or timing your RW/Loudside uses to just after the phase change. Also, her counter can hurt early on so save the attacks until you at least get Protect up.

The Black Mage can pump out some strong elemental damage as noted. Gigas Armlets/Necrophobe Wards will help as well bringing focused magic mitigation.

Jump Start Notes: The AI shifts to use regular attacks from the outset instead of the weaker normal attacks...so definitely stress getting mitigation up ASAP before taking a Milleuda to the face.

Ex modes are always unique buffs to themselves aren't they?
Wondering if I should put a 11 pull here.

I'm debating the same; I've got Cid's OSB and BSB. . but that's clean me out and I'm not sure if I'd be able to replenish by anniversary.

True, and I can't remember where I read it, but I think this specific buff ID is different. Maybe it's the crit rate i'm thinking of.

Also worth noting that for some reason, Seymour Natus got wasted and thought this was a 10 event and shows up as our FFT MO boss. Go home Seymour, you're drunk!

Cloud's crit rate isn't a unique buff and can be overwritten by similar ones (Cloud USB> Eiko BSB will result in a nerfed crit rate for him). But everything else stacks afaik.

Yeah but that's because the crit rate is from ultra cross slash's entry, not the EX mode (the ex mode granted by UCS is increased physical damage and break cap). Sword saint EX is 50 atk and double knight/darkness, but the crit rate can be overriden since it's part of the entry.
