The Witcher: Blood Origin - Prequel Miniseries - December 25, 2022

Six Episodes, Set 1200 Years Before the Main Series
Declan de Barra (The Originals/Iron Fist) will be the Showrunner
Declan de Barra said: “As a lifelong fan of fantasy, I am beyond excited to tell the story The Witcher: Blood Origin. A question has been burning in my mind ever since I first read The Witcher books – What was the Elven world really like before the cataclysmic arrival of the humans? I’ve always been fascinated by the rise and fall of civilizations, how science, discovery, and culture flourish right before that fall. How vast swathes of knowledge are lost forever in such a short time, often compounded by colonization and a rewriting of history. Leaving only fragments of a civilization’s true story behind. The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell the tale of the Elven civilization before its fall, and most importantly reveal the forgotten history of the very first Witcher.”

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich added: “I am so thrilled to collaborate with Declan and the Netflix team on The Witcher: Blood Origin. It’s an exciting challenge to explore and expand The Witcher universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski, and we can’t wait to introduce fans to new characters and an original story that will enrich our magical, mythical world even more.”

Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Nightflyers) has been tapped as a lead in Netflix’s six-part, live-action limited series The Witcher: Blood Origin, a prequel to the streamer’s hit series The Witcher.

Set in an elven world 1,200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.

Turner-Smith will play Éile, an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, who has left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician. A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

This was not great, it was all over the place. Lots of stuff was obviously cut.

I don't get the hate this received. Fight scenes were pretty good, overall story was fine. My only real complaint was some characters needed additional screen time and action, while others needed far less, Brother Death and the Empress being the extremes of the two. Character interactions were pretty great at times, Meldof really stole the show.

    Wasn’t bad, wasn’t great. It’s 4 episodes, worth a watch.

During his talk with the dog clan dude, he said something about how he just escaped, no further elaboration. It's just that easy.

lol yea fuck that, show was horrible. Also Michelle Yeoh is not a great actress but I loved her in her old wuxia films when she did the action.

Yeah, it really bothered me. I thought I missed something too. In one scene, he's locked in a dungeon which supposedly strip mages of their powers, and then he's suddenly just escaped with absolutely no one from the city (even the bad guy himself) even acknowledging it. It's just terrible/lazy writing.

Pretty sure it happened after that. He brought him the book into the cell to taunt him after the beast attack.
