https://square-enix-games.com/neotwewyThe Game has begun anew as Square Enix today announced that NEO: The World Ends with You, the follow-up to the hit action role-playing game, The World Ends with You, is coming to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and Nintendo Switch system in Summer 2021.
NEO: The World Ends with You transports players to the streets of the Shibuya, where they will take part in the “Reapers’ Game,” a life-or-death battle for survival. Players will take on the role of Rindo as they explore the heart of Tokyo to uncover the mysteries behind the sinister Game in which they have been forced to take part.
NEO: The World Ends with You brings a re-creation of modern Shibuya to life in a unique and comic-inspired style. Players can explore and enjoy the sights, sounds, and culture of this bustling city, fight monsters alongside their ally companions in fast-paced action battles, and complete missions as they seek to change the fate they’ve been handed.
A new trailer unveiled today provides a first look at the title, showcasing the hip visual direction, 3D environments, gameplay and battle sequences, and amped-up soundtrack underscoring the game’s eye-catching art style.
Sho making a return? 10/10
And like all mask wearers, he has the chin diaper lol
Persona fans are pretty fucking awful, about as terrible as FF7 fans.
Well, this is some surprising news. I am really excited for this. First game has one of my favorite soundtracks. I know the Switch port of the first one isn't perfect, but I'll probably need to pick it up now before the sequel comes out.
Persona 3 - July 2006
TWEWY - July 2007
That being said, I don't think Nomura was really capitalizing on P3's success specifically. The team that made TWEWY had worked on KH:CoM (2004) prior, from which they pulled a lot of handheld gameplay mechanics & UI aesthetics for TWEWY. While Shibuya has been the epicenter of Japan's pop and fashion trends for like 30 years, it was only after the millennium that it became culturally cemented as such on a meta/memetic level. You could say Nomura was capitalizing on the new fetishization of Shibuya fashion, not the success of industry cohorts. I can't be surprised that more than one game of its ilk was created around the same time. DQ had FF; KoF had SF; Castlevania had Metroid; etc.
And yeah, all those fans are shit.

I'm glad they're taking this game up a notch/in a different direction, actually evolving it with the gameplay and graphics and bumping it to 3D with apparently a party system. First game was tops, and I'm sure its not going to be as good as the first one was for me but I'm still looking forward to giving it a shot, I can't stress enough between the Music, the Pin upgrading, the gameplay and how great the story was that I loved the first game.
There's a demo:

Is it PS only or is it in Switch too?
Awesome. I need to grab that and Triangle strategy for this weekend.
Finished the demo. I never played TWEWY in any version.
The game works, seems fine. The combat may just not be for me though.
So SE goofed and accidentally let people buy this digitally on the switch last night
