Kawano revealed the first major major bullet point for Dynasty
Warriors 7, although it wasn't really much of a surprise given that
attendees were handed 3D glasses as they entered the conference
hall. Dynasty Warriors 7 will have 3D support, Kawano said.

Following a 3D trailer for the game, producer Akihiro Suzuki took
the stage to detail the game. The concept for this latest Dynasty
Warriors game is "Cinematic Ikki Tousen," revealed Suzuki. "Ikki
Tousen" refers to that Dynasty Warriors style of gameplay where
a players face off against hundreds or thousands of enemies on the
battle field.

New systems and modes introduced during the press conference
include "Seamless Play," where the game switches from cut scene
to gameplay without transition, and a new story mode called
"Chronicle Mode." New generals include Sima Shi (voice Ryutaro
Okiayu), Sima Zhao (voice Daisuke Kishio) and Bao Sanniang (voice Ai
Nonaka).

On the gameplay front, the game has a new weapons system.
Players can freely change their weapons during battle.
You can
equip two weapons simultaneously, swapping these out in
real time,
even in mid combo. This connective attack from the two
weapons is
known as a "Variable Attack."

The game now allows you to stock up to two Musou gauges. This
allows you to chain together your Musou Renbu moves. Each general
now has two Renbu moves and are specialists in certain weapons
which give them access to EX Attacks when equipped.

Closing off the press conference, Suzuki announced that Dynasty
Warriors 7 will see release in March 2011.

Tecmo Koei opened an official site for the game. This site contains
additional screens and details, so Dynasty Warriors fans will
definitely want to take a look.

The live conference will be starting up in a few hours, here's a few leaked details from Dengeki

Going along with the first details on Dynasty Warriors 7 below,
details on the new generals set for the game have surfaced
courtesy of Dengeki.
I'm going by Wikipedia for these names, so I've included the Japanese
as well in case someone wants to check for mistakes:

Sima Shi (司馬師, voice Ryutaro Okiayu)
Sima Zhao (司馬昭, voice Daisuke Kishio)
Bao Sanniang (鮑三娘, voice Ai Nonaka)

More newcomer generals will be announced from here on out. The
game will have the greatest number of generals in series history.

First details on Dynasty Warriors 7 have leaked out via Dengeki. In
development for the PlayStation 3 (this is just for Japan, I believe),
the long awaited sequel will ship in March 2011 complete with 3D
support.

Systems, concepts and modes mentioned in Dengeki include:

Seamless: The game will switch from movie scenes to battle seamlessly.

Chronicle Mode: A story mode focusing on a single general.

Variable Attack: You'll be able to bring all weapons into battle with you
simultaneously. From these, you can set two for a quick switch as
you fight. You'll be able to switch between these two weapons even
in mid combo.

Tecmo Koei is promising the largest volume ever for the series.

One of the best hack and slash series ever. Pretty pumped for a new one. 6 was amazing. Strikeforce though I was not pleased with.

6 was nice except for the rehashed move set. Like 30 generals and 5 move sets blew ass. DW3 was far and away my favorite because of this. Plus, no more losing your max combo because you're not actively fighting every second, please.

Wish they'd finally bump up the AI. The series hasn't really evolved since the PS2. I'd like to feel like I'm leading an army, not doing all the work.

I agree, I'd like to actually have my own platoon at least. Not just a body guard.

the 6 bodyguards in..dw5 i think it was? was awesome. Wish they were more intelligent though. There's still no feeling like bumrushing into a huge crowd and unleashing a musou, destroying the whole pack.

I always feel like I'm playing the same game I was 10 years ago, and for once, its not a good feeling; not if I have to pay full price each time. Get some quality VAs, bump up the damned AI, institute useful blocks and counters, and just try to switch things up in combat. Its the same. damned. formula. every. time.

If nothing else, just please please bump up the AI of both sides. Let me feel like I'm in a war, not a real time tactics game where mobs that aren't generals or captains do the circling dance over and over.

dynasty warriors 2 had some baller fucking royal guards or whatever they were, they'd literally just assrape entire armies for you

i'm glad that there's a new DW coming out, the series is what sold me on getting a ps2, well also zoe i guess

anyway, i hope it really is as he said a "cinematic ikki tousen"

Pretty sure that March release is just for Japan, NA version will probably release early summer. If lucky, maybe a month after JP release.

dw4 had the multiple guards. this game series is the best after a day of work when you really would rather stab co-workers.

Well, release date is confirmed for March 2011 for Europe as well, so can probably expect the same for NA release.
