    Headphones

Recently I started looking for some nice sounding headphones since I don't have any for my iPod or phone. I was looking into some Sennheiser brand headphones as I've heard they are a really good brand. My budget is up to $100. These were the ones I was looking at:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826106430

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826106222

I might go over my budget for the right pair.

    A few details:
Huge and bulky is alright as long as they sound great. I like earbuds but I know that means sacrificing sound quality.

Thanks for the feedback and the suggestions.

Sennheiser on the hear headphones under a hundred sacrifice a bit of the comfort they're famous for. You can, however, get a good pair of Senn in-ears within your budget. Any of their CX line earbuds should suit you.

    I've had these

for just over 2 years, and I love them.

They're also right at your price point of $100.

There are alot of review sites online for Earbuds and Headphones just need to google them. The Klipsch S4i have been getting really good reviews but I would just buy the S4s the i is not needed. Still if you're dead set on Sennheiser they're boss as well so I think you'll be happy.

I love my HD555's, so much infact, that I want to give them to my sister and get a higher end model. I could never justify 100$ for a pair of headphones/headset, but after going through maybe 10 pairs of 20-75$ ones, I decided to make the price jump... best decision I've ever made. You get what you pay for, which is why I want an even higher end pair, maybe an amp, etc.

    Seinnheiser PMX-60s?

I've gone through a few pairs of them (not because theyre not durable, but because I take them everywhere, and occasionally the cord gets stuck on something or I stuff them into a locker). The sound quality is really really great for the price range they're in, and they're comfy to wear for long periods of time. The only downside is that they don't exactly contain the noise really well, so if you listen to your music loud other people will probably be able to hear it.

This is what i got for my hd555, the mic jack is 1/6" too though, had to buy an adapter cable for my mic because of that. Other than that it works abselutely awesome together with hd555, i love the sound config software that came with it.

Good to know, I might have to pick this up. Right now I have my senn's&zalman mic plugged into my mobo (its a higher end asus mobo at least) and I have my speakers plugged into a creative x-fi usb thing. This way I can swap between sources for games/vent/music. Most games I play with sound through speakers and vent/music on the headphones, or if I'm doing stuff in the room then music on the speakers.

I'm using sennheiser hd580s (1/4" plug, but adapters are like $3 anyway if you have a 1/8" so w/e) with the essense stx and it's godly. Kinda pricey, but soundcards can last through several pc builds anyway. Also have some crappy walmart 5.1 speakers set up for when I want other people to hear the sound, just have to click one button in the control panel to switch 'em.

...and I fucking hate Creative because my old x-fi just plain didn't work with windows 7 and they never released any updated drivers for it. Asus has never let me down.

Definitely get a headphone amp or a card with built-in amp if you're using high-impedance headphones. It makes a massive difference.

I have Audio-Technica ATH-M50s, which are around your target price point and solid for the money.

Something worth noting is that anything getting into the triple digits in headphone cost is not going to sound its best on an ipod/iphone unless you have an amp to go with it, which would add another $50-100 to the overall price. It's not going to sound bad, but it won't sound amazingly better than what you get with whatever you use currently.

I can definitely recommend the hd555 as great head phones, but be aware that they're open style so other people will be able to hear what you're listening to and allow outside noises to come in.

HD555 is what I would go with in your position. Tried them and worked great but switched up for a par of Monster studio headsets since I get those for less than $120 and work better than the Bose imo so was worth it. If you can find a friend who works at a retail place that's either ABT or Best Buy, they have an employee accommodation with Monster and offer the headsets for 50-70% off through it. The pair I picked up for ~$120 was:
    http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=3808
I believe the accommodation was the same price for the retailers I listed above and are worth the money given the performance and even at +$20 your budget, they are normally $300+tax. They will outperform the Sen's you've listed for obvious reasons but catch is, like I said, gotta have a hook-up in one of those retail areas (and srly plz don't PM about it...)

PS: they have a built-in amp which is why they're normally so pricey although you gotta love the anti-tangle 'cuz it actually fkn works LOL!

^ Despite being completely plastered in marketing bullshit, those Beats 'phones are actually really nice.

It IS marketing bullshit IF it were full price. But at the price points *emphasizingpricepointssoseriouslypayattn* the comparison would be "hey which is better these $30 sony active head phones, or these Bose IE2 that you can pay $30 for". Yeakthxbye. That's my point. I don't exactly care too much about products and company. Yes I have a pair of Bose companion 2. I paid $39.99 for them when Circuit City liquidated. Are they better than the Klipsch PC speakers? No. But I paid $39.99 for them and that's better for the price and performance than anything else out there. I don't ride Bose like a bit** but I won't argue with what I get if the price is right. As I said, the HD555 is the best at the regular price point. If you can pick up the monster beats at that same price as the Sen, then go with the Monster beats as they are better and that was my whole friggin point....
