Is there a way to turn off clouds? They're just a pain in the ass when trying to take pictures.

Not many changes to the outside, or inside for that matter. Just made more fake, pointless, cosmetic buildings in the courtyard section. And there were quite a bit of liberties taken when doing those sections because it was hard to get ratios right since I couldn't access the areas and ratios were a bit off to begin with.
    Spoiler: show

You can replace the clouds.png with a blank. Here's a guide, the Envi folder is either in minecraft.jar for default texture pack, or in the .rar for whatever custom one you are using. The guide also has a blank .png you can use.

Or you can just use zombe's modpack cloud mod, and hit the multiply key to toggle clouds on/off. :3

So what's the best way to find golds/platinum? Dig a hole all the way to the bottom then just dig out large sections along the bedrock, or find natural caves and explore around a lot until you find lava then dig around?

What I'm doing currently, is dig a hole to the bedrock, then I dig a long tunnel 1square wide, 5 squares high. Then after i make a long tunnel, i back out and then skip a square, and then dig a new 1square wide tunnel.

If you're talking about on the BG server, go to the spawn area/floating islands area. Dig around a bit, I don't think you'll have to dig long.
If you're talking about in general, yea, pretty much what you said.

This Mod if you don't mind using them (it's a minimap that tells you where materials are located), if not then natural caves or drift mining would be best way to go.

Mods are really easy to use if you can figure out how to setup bukkit. It's literally just drag and drop.

Edit: For multiplayer, if you're running your own server >.>

Yeah Mods aren't as intimidating as you might think. The gist of them are basically:

    1) Find and back up your minecraft.jar (in the Bin folder)
    2) open minecraft.jar with winrar or 7zip, etc.
    3) drag files into jar replacing or adding them
    4) close the jar

It of course varies from mod to mod, but for the most part that is it. Some require that you first add ModLoader (here) which still follows the same steps above to install. Really just drag-n-drop. I always back up a 'vanilla' install of the minecraft.jar anyway. If the mod doesn't take, or black screens the game then i just rename the backup and start over/skip it.

You forgot the delete the meta-indev or meta-indv or w/e folder in minecraft jar before adding any new files step. :3 But yes, thats pretty much the gist of it, though some mods you dont add all the stuff to the .jar, just whatever it tells you to add.

naw did that. found the problem. I was using an older version of Modloader.
That's what I get for googling for stuff.

I yes, the META folder in the minecraft.jar. Lately I have been playing with MyCraft. It is kind of nice because it is standalone in a sense. You put all your mod files into the MyCraft folder and launch Minecraft from there. I use it for flight and that is about it. I used to use a few others but haven't since about 2 updates ago.

I've been looking to get back into minecraft again but I find single player intensely boring for the most part, I think the game really shines when played with an active community. I have a few friends that used to play but they aren't really into it anymore until the adventure update comes out.

Couple questions - does BG have a server that runs 24/7? I ask because I usually am awake at all hours of the night on my off days since I work over nights.

Question 2 - I'd like to play on BG's server since it seems you guys have built a ton of really cool stuff. What would I have to do to get on the access list to play? I noticed that you're limited to spectator and can't build if you're not put on the list. My minecraft account name is djzombie1983.

Reading the thread creator's post would be a good start.

i did read it - thats how i noticed that you're only set to spectator if you're not on the list. I also figured that asking to be put on the minecraft list in the minecraft thread would be sufficient. It didn't specifically say to PM.

edit: sent OP a message since that seems to be the course of action you're implying.
