Nvidia Geforce 425M Optimum FFXI Driver?

So a friend of mine bought a laptop recently for FFXI and, unfortunately, isn't the most tech savvy person in the world and did not know about Nvidia's major issues with FFXI. I've been trying to find some archived drivers that might work better than the current release (260.99), but because the card is relatively new and he's using Win 7 x64, I'm not able to really find anything that's compatible with it.

Since this is a laptop, is he just SoL? Will older drivers not work with 400 series hardware? If there are some that work with the 425M, do any of them support FFXI better than 260.99? Is there any way to jury rig another video card into his laptop (unlikely as hell, I'm sure)?

    Thanks

    Exchange for an ATI.

Sorry, I got this exact same problem (laptop with a new chip that can't use older drivers). Newest drivers have worked for some people but if it didn't fix it, then you're stuck waiting atm.
