chocobo summon !
I'd like it to be Phoenix for symmetry reasons. It would give us 4 of the 5 Terrestrials, 2 dark and 2 light. Since we now have all 8 Celestials (sort of), it'd be nice... But maybe thats me being a little OCD.
Regardless, even taking into acount Phoenix's role within CoP, SE isn't above pulling shenanigans with the story to make it work. I can only imagine the horror, however, if the Phoenix quest involved slaughtering hundreds of monsters to repower the sword or something... DRK quest V2 anyone?
Not necessarily. SMN Pacts have always held the ID's from 288 through 319, just that 288-304 were named pacts, 305-319 were left blank but still listed as SMN Pacts. When SE shifted over to a new .DAT spell list and when Odin/Alexander were added, those two avatars took up 305 and 306. 307 Remained a blank SMN pact and 308-319 were filled in with Tier 2 Enspells, Endark, and the two SCH Enmity Spells.
As far as other spells are concerned they don't often just stick new spells under "Jet Based attack". There are placeholders throughout the .DAT for future spells if they implement them outside of what we've already found. For instance, BRD elegies are grouped together, and should SE release Masacre Elegy, it would be slotted at ID 423. Also, another example is the fact that we didn't see Valor Minuet V in the .DAT's with an assigned level. That is because there was already a placeholder for it with the other group of Minuets and Valor Minuet V will be placed at ID 398. Also following this, BRD should see Army's Paeon VII with an ID of 384 and Paeon VIII (if SE releases it) with 385
its a new set of elementals
That'd just mean they probably have no plans to add more than 1 more avatar in the near future.. The planned placeholders are still subject to change. If they could fill in former smn slots with other stuff they could do the same vice versa.
I'd say the only thing this list could be indicative of is a planning horizon of maybe a year ahead from now. When 99 is reaches and they're planning for content for say 2012 and beyond.. They'll prolly change things around again
I don't really see SE changing the list anytime soon as far as format is concerned. The older version of the spell list was almost 1 MB due to the fact that it contained the spell name in Japanese and English, spell description in Japanese and English, along with everything else. They changed it to a different format to where information was broken up into different .DAT's where spell Name, Description, and Stats (level, mp, recast/cast) each had their own .DAT file that loads separately. If I remember correctly, it allowed for different languages to load each one up instead of the old fashioned way when the game only supported Japanese and English and loaded one huge file. The new format cut the file size of what needs to be loaded for spell information by half.
SE has already been filling in a lot of unused slots that were previously labeled different things. 471-511 was a large bank of blank bard songs that had nothing associated with them, and SE went and changed these around to be the newer spells from the last update and even left space and labels (Levels/Jobs) for future spells 85-99. As of right now, there are 6 blank slots 471-511. The rest have all been accounted for with soon to be released spells next week and spells from 91-99. If SE starts adding more spells in those slots first, then there has to be some reason as to why they are saving that empty SMN Pact slot. I am not saying that 100% it is being saved for a new summon as plans change, I am simply saying that they seem to be avoiding placing anything in slot 307.
Also as we all know there are a lot of empty slots, but these slots have spells assigned to them (217-Gravity II, 218-Meteor, 219-Comet). The last two have ID's mainly because certain (H)NM's cast them so they need info. But aside from this, what I find most interesting is the lack of -aga V's. I have a feeling that SE will implement them in the new Merit System at 99.
Or perhaps they'll go the path of Ja IIs instead.
Too long of a thread to go through it so I don't know if this was mentioned (And I don't want to read the huge derail), but does anyone else think the shield/harp are Empyrean weapons? Maybe they are finally adding Trial of the Magian trials for shield and harp/horn. If so, then Aegis Paladin's and Gjall Bard's can finally upgrade their equipment. Maybe.
Before any trolling commences: yes, it's been mentioned.
I remember back in the day you could figure out what spells were "in the game" by doing /recast "spell name"... This worked for stuff like Bio V, Dia V, Fire V, Flare II (before merits).. etc...
It still works for some spells not available to players (Holy II, Breakga, Diaga III) - but not for others (Meteor, Comet)...
As for the Bahamut implementation, I'm pretty sure SE said in the past that they didn't want to give players Bahamut because they didn't want to take away from 'how powerful he is' in the storyline or anything... They didn't want to have to water him down.
And considering those pictures and Mana Cede, I think new elementals are likely. The current elementals can't do anything with TP. Mana Cede can give elementals TP. If they add new ones, maybe they will be able to use TP...?
Speculation of course, but if they don't do something like that or change the way elementals work, it's a half literally useless ability.
Shalafi, your avatar is godly.
This is the correct answer. We've tried the Odin route, but we find that WAR/SAMs with Fanatics Drinks are far more efficient than SMNs with Odin. Have a stack a keys to pop 2hour chests and you can easily farm up 200 minutes worth of time in about 20 minutes tops. I'll post some screenshots later. (On OS X have to switch to Win7)
Also when you combine this with Retaliation, TP gain is insane, I can jump from 20~ to 180+ in about 2~3 seconds depending on how many mobs I have on me.
EDIT: Brace for table break:
