Looking for FFXI players for research study

Hello. My name is Peter Chan and I am a advanced graduate student in clinical psychology at Alliant International University – California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco, CA. I am currently conducting a study for my final research project on the gender swapping experience of Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) players. I am looking for participants who would be willing to volunteer about two hours of their time to help me with my research. Participation will involve an in-person or over-the-phone interview (depending on where you live), and completion of a short paper-and-pencil rating scale. The interview will take approximately 90 minutes and the rating scale will take about 15 minutes to complete. To participate in the study you must:

- be at least 18 years old.
- have at least 2 years of experience playing FFXI
- have a main character, for a minimum of 1 year, who is another sex from that which you identify as your own.

Yes, they are asexual, however, a lot of people also generally consider them male. so that would be taken into account how the player sees galka's sex as well.

That is definitely a more complicated one, which my research study is not actually looking at. However, that is definitely something to think about. Perception and difference in perspective are two things that come to my mind.

Best of luck to you. You may want to do some digging online as I've already read a few studies about this... from what I recall even though from a whole number standpoint more males played female characters the percentage of female MMO gamers who played male characters was much higher, especially for Asian-based games. I did my senior project on MMOs as well back in the early/mid 2000's before such research was widespread and got really interesting results and even won some acclaim within my department.

Also as others have mentioned you may want to look at FFXIV instead of FFXI as a lot of people (myself included) quit FFXI years ago.

no they do not have to be current players, as long as they had at least a minimum of 2 years of total play time and a minimum of 1 year playing the character of the opposite sex.

In addition, I just want to clarify that I am NOT ONLY looking for male players who used female characters but ALSO female players who used male characters.
