I just love anything with Vin Diesel and his wooden acting. His movies are so awful and yet so watchable.
Cant wait for this to come out, i hope it not a prequel. Hey Meara
I don't know how anyone can watch the second movie and call it anything remotely close to "as good as the first". I thought Pitch Black was miles above Chronicles, and I cringe every time I see that they've changed the movie title to "Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black". The second started out so promising but then they ruined it with the bald girl from the first being some knock-off and then adding all that elemental bullshit.
I'll kill you with my teacup. That is all.

I've enjoyed watching Vin Diesel play Riddick, I think it a great character to play with. Pitch Black is my favorite movie in the franchise, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for us with this third Riddick movie. Up until this point the only stuff we've had to go off of is some concept art like the one above, and the following short synopsis...
We now have some new details to share with you. Moviehole got their hands on a script for the film, and released some details. The film will be a direct sequel to Pitch Black, but at the same time takes place after the event in The Chronicles of Riddick.Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
Here’s the description of the opening moments of the screenplay:Riddick is a direct sequel to Pitch Black – the events tie into that film. In much the same way the upcoming Dark Knight Rises will tie up any loose threads and plot points from Batman Begins, Riddick will return to the mystery and monsters at the centre of Pitch Black.
Here's what Moviehole had to say about the script:We meet LORD MARSHAL Riddick. Nobody much likes that Riddick’s royalty now (he loves it; he gets to screw hot chicks) – as evident by the assassins that try and take him out at any and every opportunity – especially the necromancers, who are dead against the anointment of a furyan as a leader.
In exchange for the title, Riddick’s reluctant right-hand man and necro Vaako (Karl Urban’s character from the previous film; Urban will likely do it since the character is only in it for a short while) agrees to drop Riddick off at his home, Furya.
One thing leads to another and, much like the first film, Riddick finds himself stranded on a monster-infested planet. Instead of it leading to a rescue mission, his distress beacon catches the attention of a couple of merc teams (it would seem Vaako had dispatched them to kill Riddick while he’s isolated; not entirely true) who go after him with ill intentions.
One of the teams is lead by someone connected to an old enemy… someone from ”Pitch Black”.
In a nutshell, the movie sees Riddick back on a barren planet, surrounded by monsters and mercenaries – both species who want him dead and vice versa. Though there’s a couple of potential cameos from previous Riddick movie faves, it’s mostly fresh blood this time surrounding the big guy. And speaking of fresh, the character seems to have gotten a welcome, kick-ass overhaul….he’s more brutal, bad-ass and virile (as some may say) than he was in the previous films.

So if this is a direct sequel to Pitch Black, then I wonder if they're going to ignore the events of the animated film, Dark Fury?
I've only ever seen Pitch Black and it was pretty sweet. If I wanted to catch up on the story, which films should I watch and in what order??
1. pitch black > 2. Dark Fury > 3. Chronicles of Riddic
Dark Fury is an anime that fills in the gaps
I'm pretty psyched about this. Not two many sci-fi/space movies made these days
Dark Fury also has dvd extra that is, I forget if it's a audio or text, a back story to Pitch Black.
http://geektyrant.com/news/2011/11/2...-problems.htmlRiddick fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Production has resumed today after a short stoppage due to financial problems. Bloody Disgusting reports that the production company “scrounged up enough cash to pay off some long overdue bills after coming to a screeching halt last month.” It was to the point that the cast and crew were locked out of the Montreal studio because the studio had yet to be paid.
Sources have also stated that a number of the crew have not been paid, so let’s hope they get paid very soon. Production will begin today with Vin Diesel and Karl Urban.

Just read the post before last, how the hell does that even happen? With big movie star names attached to this movie, why are there financial problems to begin with?

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/1/9/...s-riddick.htmlOh yeah! Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff is in final negotiations to play the lead female role in Vin Diesel's new Chronicles Of Riddick sequel. Sackhoff will play a character named Dhal described as a "Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick."
The sci-fi movie is being written and directed by David Twohy, and this is one of the best bits of news for the production that I've seen in a long time. I'm excited for this new Riddick movie; the concept art that Diesel has released has been awesome and the story sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.

We're going the wrong way.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/1/10...n-riddick.htmlYesterday we reported the awesome news that Katee Sackhoff was cast as a nordic mercenary named Dhal who is tracking Riddick. Today we give you the news that Jordi Molla (Columbiana, Knight and Day) is in talks to play the villain in the Chronicles of Riddick sequel.
Molla would take on the role of a character named Santana, described as a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick. He may not be as good looking as Sackhoff, but he does have the villainous look.
