Huh? I worked my ass off for those 99 staffs on the pretense that they would use them for a prism staff (Which they suggested back when they announced the level cap). There's nothing rare or luck about it either. It's as far from VW/Nyzul as you can get. Raw progression.

However, if any stat on it was lower than what you'd get using the specific magian staff for that element, it would not be an improvement. The biggest failure SE could make is an all-in-one staff that isn't as good (even if it's just less m.acc, or less casting time, or even 1 less affinity) than the single element staff for a given spell. It needs to be inv+7 for the OCD min/maxing mages, not just the average player.

The way I hope they do it is an all-in-one damage path staff with the same stats (damage+6 m.acc+1 cast time-14%) for all elements, an all-in-one m.acc path staff (m.acc+6 damage+1 recast-14%) for all elements, and an all-in-one perp path staff (perp-7 BP delay-12) for all avatars.

Then a further all-in-one staff combining all of that (damage+6 m.acc+6 cast time-14% recast-14%) for the truly OCD elite.

If they broke it down into steps (e.g. an all-in-one fire/wind/thunder/light and an all-in-one earth/water/ice/dark staff) on the way to the final all-in-one staff, that would be good, too.

    Fixed.

Add: Magian trials has always had a rewarding gameplay feeling on par with essence farming in Ninja Gaiden.

You just had to kill 8720 to 9360 mobs, then collect 440 geodes and 120 avatarites for those 8 level 99 staves. You would have to be a complete dick to be resentful about people who don't try their very best improve their jobs having all of that free inventory space.

    Spoiler: show

Anyway, I'm for a Prism Staff, but if it didn't involve the 99 Magians in some way, SE will have some pretty pissed off mages. There's already some resentment out there with their whole rare/expensive scroll philosophy.
I would be pretty annoyed if they finally added a prism staff and blu couldn't use it.(IE: magian)

    Where's my prism sword?

I should thank you again for helping me with info on those trials. Man Titan was a pain in the ass...

Careful, you might give melee RDMs something they want. Can't have that now.

Frankly I think the way the game is programmed may limit the likelihood of ever seeing a "Prism" staff. For example, fire damage affinity boosts fire damage but drops ice damage. Ice affinity boosts ice damage but drops wind damage. Stack 'em all and you get a whole lot of nothing. They'd have to reprogram the way the affinities work for the one particular staff to only give the positive benefits and not the negative ones, or make them a generic magic potency value which may have other implications that makes it better or worse than individual staves. I'm not saying they shouldn't do it, but I'm saying it'll take more than 5 seconds of work to add so they may not do it.

Well atmas are gear and I don't recall obtaining negative attributes from those.

  12. #4472

There's no reason to assume the pros of the staves are married to the cons. Given SE's fondness for hidden stats, they just chose to omit listing the negatives while placing them there solely for "balance" purposes. If we consider our stats just one giant sheet, we'd probably look like this when it comes to the staff effects:

    Earth Magic Affinity: 0
    Water Magic Affinity: 0
    Wind Magic Affinity: 0
    Fire Magic Affinity: 0
    etc..

Put on the Ice staff and they jump to:
    ...
    Wind Magic Affinity: -6
    Fire Magic Affinity: 0
    Ice Magic Affinity: 6
    ...

No different than how Errant gear has its +stats and -stats that adjust as you equip. SE just bothered to list them. Doing it the other way is basically demanding they create 48 weapon specific attribute pairings (+1, +2, etc.) to ultimately interact the same way.

It could also be that the positive/negative elemental buff isn't rolled up into one attribute, but a separate hidden attribute on the staves. e.g. a hidden "Ice damage+35%" and a hidden "Wind damage-35%" or something. It's obvious they separated out the magic accuracy part of it, versus the crafted staves. Nothing saying they can't just put a hidden "Magic Damage +35%" or whatever is equivalent to affinity+6 without any negative buff, and stick on whatever M.acc affinity they feel is appropriate.

    EDIT: Beaten!

First person who upgrades to Prism Staff with all affinity +6 finds hidden all affinity-6.

SE: But you asked for all the staves together, this is what you wanted!! (/tanakagrin)

Are we sure that this applies to magian staves, though? Eg, is nuking Wind naked any different from nuking Wind with an Ice Element Magian staff? Would take 2 seconds to confirm but I'm laaaaazy.

Looks like new fun incoming for Warrior's Charge/Assassin's Charge (not translated yet). Instead of +25% acc per additional merit, they're making it +5% chance of getting one additional hit (so triple for Warrior's, quadruple for Assassin's). Have to rethink whether I would want fully merited AC yet again...

Does that still include increased damage on next warrior's charge use? And is that 5% chance per merit or total (1 for each level?)

    Walk of Echo adjustments:

Thanks for all of the feedback.
We will be making preparations to allow skill increases.

Also, with tomorrow’s version update the easing of damage received from bosses’ AoE attacks will be implemented.

Furthermore, the below adjustments will be taking place during the following test server update:

    • Elimination of wait time associated with the key item “Kupofried’s Medallion”
    • Players will receive temporary items upon entry to Walks.
※5 will be given and the types will be random.
Sounds good. Skilling up enabled, no more time limits, temporary items to start, and reduced AoE damage. Good start.
