Definitely awaiting the inevitable megathrust to hit the PNW since these quakes are hitting in quick succession.
looks like i have to bring a pair of gumboots for my jp vacations starting in 12 days....
joking aside, at least the center was out in the ocean and more up north. think of the disaster a tokyo centered 8.8 quake would have caused
Pretty much no where you can live w/o being at risk of a natural disaster of some kind. Perhaps I'm a little higher risk due to Hurricane/Tornados + being about 2-3 miles from the coast (Kemah, TX) means it could flood like a mofo. When they tell us to evac we gtfo. I may take the advice of my professor though. He said wait till 1-2 hours before the hurricane hits and then haul ass. He said he got out of here on the highway going 90+ and being waved on by the police lol.
Flood goes in, Oil refiner fire goes out. There's no miscommunication. It's proof of Aristotle's elemental layers.
Refinery goes BOOM*
Well, we did have one quite large snowstorm this winter. Damaged the electric cables in some areas iirc.Pretty much no where you can live w/o being at risk of a natural disaster of some kind.
Sux2bJP's though. When is the West Coast's turn?
So does anyone know anyway to possibly go volunteer to help clean up/assist the people of japan?
I don't know what would be more frightening to me hurricanes, tornados or earthquakes having grown up here.
At least Japan has one of, if not the best Tsunami prior warning systems out there.
CNN
Hawaii, Russia and Taiwan threatened by tsunami
A tsunami warning has been issued as far west as Hawaii after a massive earthquake struck off the coast of Japan.
I think we've only had two or three hurricanes and 2 or so blizzards here since I was born. Never experienced an earthquake, but I think I'll take rare hurricanes and blizzards over those any day.
Global warming again.
But seriously, I hope it won't be as bad as the other tsunami that hit asia a few years ago. Japan is relatively well prepared, but other countries might not be if it hit them.
And Go Canada! No volcano, no earthquake, no tsunami. Worst we get is a big snowstorm that give us bonus holiday
Damn, my girl in Hawaii changed cell numbers. Was gonna chat it up with her and see what she was doing to prepare (if anything). Ah well.
Pretty cool seismic monitor site with a world map.

Don't they have like, Mecha or someshit that can evacuate everyone to safety?
