It's time for BG's fifth annual March Madness competition: the event where you invariably lose your champion by the end of the second weekend, and Tom Izzo makes us all look like fools.

It's a March Madness pool, it's pretty simple: pick the winners. Get more points for picking winners later in the tournament. The person with the most points wins.

This year's note: if you pick a team that has a first round game (the Dayton games on Tues & Wed), you get both teams all the way through the tournament. So if you are convinced the USC/VCU winner is going to win the tournament but can't figure out which one, great news! You don't have to pick; you get credit for either one. This also means the game doesn't lock until tipoff Thursday, I believe.

Everyone is welcome to play -- posters, lurkers, and trolls. You will need to register with ESPN.com if you haven't already. Some of their games have some pretty decent prizes, I would recommend using some real contact info on the off chance you actually win something cool. They're pretty easy to turn the spam off of.

There is no prize for winning the group other than your name on the list below. If you finish first out of all 1 million+ entries on ESPN, you win $10,000.

Also, please try to incorporate your BG handle somehow into your team name, or at least post in this thread with your super creative team name so we can bestow you with all the accolades and everlasting respect you deserve by becoming the Grand Wizard of BG.

That being said, I have two entries. One of which is just "Straight Chalk," which is not "my" entry but is simply used as a benchmark to see how accurate the NCAA committee's seeding was.

There will only be one winner, and in the unlikely event of a tie, I will use ESPN's tiebreakers for the grand prize to establish a group winner, so make sure you enter a score for the championship game, because zero to zero is almost assuredly not going to win.

I would actually like to see the "Play-In" games affect the NCAA and the NIT. Winners go to the NCAA, losers go be the #1 seeds in the NIT. Make them all bubble teams, and give all the conference champions a berth into the NCAA. That would have produced something like:
VCU vs. Virginia Tech
USC vs. Colorado
UAB vs. Harvard
Clemson vs. Alabama

That would leave only 64 teams in the tournament and if you're one of the "first 4 out," it's because you lost a game to get there.
