Thought to try and learn LaTeX during my spare time. I've never done programming before except some basic HTML during high school.
Was wondering if anyone had any advice and tips on how to learn it?

There's this web site that has most (not sure if all, but probably) of the symbols, and it gives the resultant code for them. I've used it for equations that needed to go here or in my papers that Microsoft's equation editor looks stupid with. There's a latex link in there.

I was literally just complaining about LaTex today. I didn't even notice this topic. Turns out, my math department offers a (free?) course on LaTex and so does my school's library. Maybe your school has something like that? (assuming you're still in school).
Install Miktex
Intall tecnixcenter (forgot if it spell like this) - so far it only works in win xp, I can't let it work on win 7

open amsmath, graphicx manual
Find a simple lab report, and type it in latex.
after 1~2months
congratulations, you are familiar with latex
Thanks for the advice.
I checked the school website, but all I could find were online how-to's to how to use LaTeX.
Been reading the wikibooks and I'm atm, editing one of my old lab reports and making it into a LaTeX document.
At the moment, it's a lot going back and forth between the 'cheat sheet' and the editing program. :S
