The FFIV DS port-up was a recognizably AAA effort, what with the 3-d models, upped difficulty curve and voice acting. It's the lackluster GBA/PSP ports that have been burned into people's memory, though.

Still, it's comforting to know that at least Super Mario RPG/Secret of Mana are on the Wii VC for all to enjoy.

Last Remnant was an utter fucking disgrace. FF13 wasn't bad, but got extremely boring and wasn't worth a second playthrough.

FF13 could've just started at chapter 11 and all of its problems would've been gone along with slight tweaks to the battle system, let me use the other fucking characters. Shit's really fucked up with the management of that game, you'd think with all the money SE dumped into that game the art team and development team can communicate on how to make engaging areas and not default to tunnel simulators.

Speaking of reports/remakes, I'm utterly amazed they haven't remade Seiken Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana) and Seiken Densetsu 3.

I haven't played anything after Legend of Mana (which I wasn't terribly impressed with..but it was ok), but I heard they were all pretty terrible.

Also, amen on the Dissidia on a console. However, I think part of the reason it's on handhelds (aside from the aforementioned part about production values/cost) is the fact that handheld local play seems to carry much more weight in Japan than here.

But dear god, a console Dissidia that I could play online? I'd be all over that.

Actually in rereading my own comment I can see why you thought I didnt mean that. So lemme reiterate. SNES - Golden Age and PS1 - Went Further. 4/5 of my favorite games were for PS1 and the last one was SNES.

Theres no goggles being worn here - those two points in gaming were fantastic.

I think a Xenogears remake would be fine without Takahashi and Saga, the original game along with Perfect Works has more then enough material to fill out the second disc and make a properly finished game.
