Does everyone really dislike Playonline Viewer?

I wasn't sure where to post this so sorry if this is the wrong place >.>.

Whenever I hear anyone talk about Playonline Viewer, it's rarely anything positive and usually negative (I know a lot of people said they're glad FFXIV doesn't use Playonline Viewer but why exactly?).

Honestly I think it's a good system (friend list, messages, manuals, etc). All the features made it basically like Steam (except with 20 second load times >.>. The load times could possibly be improved if SE updated it some more).

They were planning on adding more games to PlayOnline if it was successful (the problem was most did not do well like Front Mission Online [Japan Only] and the Tetra Master Online which is now gone).

So do you like or dislike Playonline Viewer? If so why?

Also web-based account management alone is enough. POL should of been killed years ago.

Maybe it's the shadow of the addiction speaking, but I really found the POLViewer music to be quite soothing. Other than that it was a terrible nuisance.

its not that bad. tho only FFXI supports it. Tetra is dead too

Either way, the concept seems cool, although that 3rd guy, he turned down a RL party to get into a lowman dynamis!!!!! I thought the warning tells us not to forget our RL friends!!!

POL could've been an excellent tool for accessing S-E's expansive library of online games, except then they only made the one.

I remember back in 06' there was a list of scrapped projects available through PoL that got leaked on Alla and KI. Online FFT, Dragon Warrior, SE Arcade... Too bad it never surpassed being a browser that wasted an additional 20 seconds of everyone's life.

Most people don't even know POL had its own private messaging client for Windows (Similar to MSN, AIM).

Was a great idea in concept. On paper it was a flop, and was completely unnecessary (even 8 years ago).
